Schultz can eat up innings in the likely event that Hutchison can't get past the 4th or 5th inning. Loup is a loogy.
The answer for who to send down is pretty simple.
Next season I'd be down for Bautista at 1B and some combination of Pillar, Pompey, Revere, and Saunders in the outfield. Get as much defense as possible, and maybe put less wear and tear on Jose's body.
The division should absolutely be the number one goal. Anything can happen in a one game Wild Card and if you can make the playoffs by avoiding that game, then do it. However, if the division is unattainable, then aim for the 1st Wild Card. At least that would be a home game.
Serve the suspension during the 3 games against Oakland next week. Problem solved.
Also, Sanchez should have never hit Escobar when he knew the ump was derpy as hell. It was still a close game and allowing a baserunner for no reason was stupid.
The only way I see Rogers increasing payroll enough to afford Price would be if the team either made or won the World Series. A couple of home dates won't change their mind.
The pen has been used a lot (the good relievers at least) so I don't mind stretching Price out a bit.
Just no point going 130 pitches in a four run game. Hawk, Lowe, or Schultz can finish this.
