  1. Not really. I want to see a consistent winner. A World Series win is always the preferred ending to a season, but I'm also being realistic about what this team will look like after 2016. Like I said, either win a WS or fail miserably. I'm down with either scenario.
  2. I hope it's not too much to ask for him to have one more good season so that he's at least partially tradeable. I liked signing him initially, and he was good last season, but damn if his decline is starting already, then cut bait and run as fast as possible. With the backloaded deal that will be difficult unless he turns things around in 2016.
  3. We need Mark DeRosa's 1 WAR motivational speech ability on this roster.
  4. Yeah, and if the Jays are going to miss the playoffs this year, I really hope they fall hard rather than stay in between (.500 ish) all season. Trading some of these guys at the deadline could yield good results. JB and EE will probably have no issues waiving their 10/5 rights mid season if the Jays are giving up, especially with the QO no longer an issue when they hit free agency. I want the Jays to either run away with the division or collapse. In between is what you want to avoid.
  5. The best part is that that 95% of this roster is AA's baby. He added Happ, Chavez, and Floyd, basically. THe lineup is AA's, the bench is all AA acquisitions, the rotation other than Happ were guys acquired by AA, etc. He clearly wanted to rebuild imo but threw a bone to the fanbase. Now he's watching the previous GM's creation predictable age/decline, and some idiots will still blame him for it. I thought the off-season was very well played. This team still has a chance to turn things around, but if they won't, it will be easy to change direction. Thank goodness AA was gone before he doubled down on this roster even more.
  6. The strike outs are really worrisome. I was expecting a drop off from him towards year 3-5, and was OK with that if he put up great seasons in years 1-2, but a decline in year 2 would be horrendous. Definitely think the Jays should cut bait with him after this season (same with Tulo) just to avoid having to pay them during their major decline years, but finding a team to take them (in Martin's case) or getting equal value (in Tulo's case, never mind the NTC) will be tough. 2015 was memorable and all, and there's still time to turn 2016 around, but I'm looking long haul. The window is closing. Win or lose in 2016, they have to make some decisions on the 30-somethings that will be clogging up $20m AAV into their mid 30's.
  7. Martin has 27 strike outs already. Damn.
  8. I said prior to the season I really don't care what the outcome to this season is. If the make the playoffs, great. If they win the World Series, awesome. However, if they fail, I want them to fail to the point where they can peddle off assets at the deadline rather than be stuck somewhere in between. Trading Edwin and Bautista mid-season might make a huge difference in shortening the transition time for the next Jays contender after 2016. The org obviously does not want them back unless it's short term, and they won't want to come back unless it's really long-term, so here we are.
  9. Just got home to see the lineup. I'm convinced Smoak did something to Gibbons. He can't even get playing time over Matt f***ing Dominquez, and Goins plays over Barney despite being a s***** player in general and even worse against LHP. Seriously. I'm done blaming Gibbons here. Shapiro and Atkins can fire his ass any time they want to. He obviously does not mesh with their organizational philosophy. Cut ties and move the f*** on already. Anyone else would be better.
  10. Why is Gibbons so in love with s***** players? Carrera, Tepera, Goins, Colabello. You can build an all scrub team just with the guys he likes.
  11. The crying you heard was probably Gibbons somewhere in the background.
  12. If only the Jays had someone like Valencia on the team. But him leaving directly lead to the 2nd half surge last year so chemistry > all.
  13. He might be worth his contract by the end of it but it will be largely due to 2015 if that happens. The signing wasn't bad, it was back loading the contract that hurts. He's going to be near impossible to move with 3/60 left after this season in what will be the twilight of his career. Unless there's an equally questionable contract the Jays could take back.
  14. His ceiling is Darwin Barney. That's if he reaches every bit of potential he has.
  15. Or if Storen was the "closer" pitching in 3 run games while Osuna was cleaning up the messes in the 7th and 8th. But hey, savez because of familiarity...and stuff.
  16. Barney is a better player than Goins. It's actually sad that the Jays will likely favor Goins when Travis gets back. I guess they could always keep both Barney and Goins since Roidabello is no longer wasting a bench spot, but if Goins is still hitting this badly, they could demote him and take advantage of his options (crosses fingers).
  17. Gibbons really, really hates Justin Smoak. Gibbons also really, really sucks.
  18. Don't anyone dare call Osuna "Robbie". There's only one Roberto who goes by Robbie in this world, and I'll be damned if anyone insults the good name of Alomar like that.
  19. Goins' ceiling is Darwin Barney. Why not just play the real thing full time and have Goins off the bench? Hopefully sooner than later (until Travis gets back).
  20. I'm more worried about the strike outs with Hutchison. He already has two of them. If those balls were put in play instead, then I'd be a lot more optimistic about the rest of his day. / Pete Walker
  21. Man, good cuts for Donaldson and Edwin.
  22. Would Josh Thole even be in baseball if it wasn't for Dickey? Honest question. Even as a minor league catcher he's not an intriguing option. And now if Martin is hurt, he'll be playing a lot more. Time for AJ Jimenez to learn how to catch a KB. No other choice.
  23. Floyd will be this year's Hendriks. Will put up a 1.5 WAR pitching blowouts all year. Gibby logic.
  24. Please let this be the beginning of the offense figuring things out.
