  1. All those called strikes were in the strike zone according to Gameday, but I'm not watching the game so can't comment on how it looks on TV.
  2. Based on the way the front office played out the roster this season, I think they are keeping Gibby until 2017. The 2016 team is basically AA's team with more depth. Letting Gibbons finish out the AA/Bautista era and then starting fresh when things turn over (in 2017 or 2018) is probably the way they want to go. In the mean time, we have to continue to watch Wobbles try to manage a big league club, which will be torture.
  3. Chavez is a better pitching coach than Pete Walker.
  4. Storen is proof why you don't invest much money in the pen. So volatile. And he's actually had a history of being really good.
  5. There's no downside to this season. They are more than capable of righting the ship and making the playoffs again, however if they fail then they have a lot of tradable pieces that they can convert into prospects at the deadline. I want a sustainable winner, not just a 1 or 2 year window. If they fail this season, then make trades and try to win in 2017 with a more sustainable roster.
  6. Bruce is a candidate to have a bounce back season (offensively). I always saw the rationale, especially if the Reds were going to pick up $8m in salary. If Saunders stays healthy and Bruce is the same dude he's been the last two years, then sure the trade will look like a good non-move, but it could just as easily end up being Saunders missing most of the year and Bruce being solid.
  7. Yep. If DIckey or Estrada can't go deep into their respective starts this weekend (both realistic possibilities), then the Jays are in trouble by using Chavez and Floyd as short relievers. Not surprising, really. I'll take a slow start if it means a managerial change in May. I still think the FO letting Gibbons stay on was a terrible move. I know this is not their core team, and letting Gibbons take the fall in case things go sour is probably the smart move on their end, but man, just get a manager that can win in 2016 and then transition into whatever direction they want to take in 2017-beyond (rebuilding, retooling, whatever). Giving this Hick a raise and letting him make roster decisions is so disgusting.
  8. The Gibbons hate here is bringing a tear down my cheek. I love it. This is the team's last chance at the playoffs with this particular group (Donaldson/Bats/EE/Tulo/etc), and they are going out with Gibbons. It's crazy. I guess if Yost and Farrell can win championships, then the Jays can win with Wobbles, but man I cannot wait until the Jays have a forward thinking manager. A saber front office with this clown who goes by his own hunches and bias rather than realizing who his best players are some times is getting tired.
  9. Interesting. Maybe spamming Twitter with faux outrage is justified in this case. We should all band together and fight the good fight.
  10. Apparently the Reds were picking up $8mil of Bruce's contract, so the Jays would have been on the hook for like $1.5mil if that trade went through counting losing Saunders' $3mil. Depending on who the prospect was, that might have been a decent flip just for health reasons. Saunders is probably the better player, but factoring his health and the fact that Carrera looks to be his main back-up, I'd rather have taken a cheap gamble on Bruce. At least he might have actually stayed on the field.
  11. I don't post on social media, but if acting offended by Gibby's "dress" comment can aid in a managerial change, please let me know. I'm down for the cause.
  12. Shapiro could have fired him. The fans hated Shapkins anyway. Now we are stuck with this hick, and the only way out is if the team starts poorly (which is not an ideal situation).
  13. I am numb to this s*** now. Why get mad at something you have no control over? This regime could have fired Gibbons and instead gave him a raise.
  14. This would have been Tepera if Morales wasn't signed. Don't know if I should feel better or worse.
  15. Giving up singles and then being taken out. Floyd getting the Hendriks treatment. Why the hell is Leon coming in?
  16. Reason Storen isn't in today appears to be because he pitched Monday and warmed up without coming in last night.
  17. Go Smoak full time and call up Burns would be the best option when Cola is demoted/replaced. Let's see how long his rope is, hopefully not too long. Smoak should play at least against RHP.
  18. I was a Sanchez non-believer, but if he proves me wrong and becomes an ace, or even a solid MLB starter, I'll be thrilled. It's when I'm wrong the other way (expect greatness, get a dud) where I get pissed. More Sanchez starts with 0 walks, tons of GB's, and a good K rate? Bring it on.
  19. If this happened in the 5th inning, no one would be looking at this with any scrutiny. It happened in the 9th inning in a 1 run game with the bases loaded, and ended the game, that's why it's going to be a hot topic. But Bautista interfered with the play. By accident, on purpose, only he knows, but they reviewed it (rightly or wrongly) and looked like they got the call right. Just sucks for the Jays.
  20. Some of you need to calm down. Bautista clearly interfered there. Maybe by accident, maybe intentionally, we don't know, but it happened. It just sucks that it happened when it happened, but a normal slide and it's possible Edwin would have been safe. This one isn't on Utley or the umps.
  21. Looking at the replay, yeah, Jose did have his arm out. f***. The s***** part is he didn't even need to do that as Edwin beat the throw anyway. What a joke.
  22. Oh god, don't overturn this please.
  23. Hell f***ing yes!!
  24. Cecil looked terrible against every batter that inning. You could sense he was going to give up some runs. I hope you guys are not serious about the jinx stuff. I hate Gibbons, but he managed it perfectly. Cecil is the guy you want in these spots. s*** happens.
