  1. Yeah, with a competent manager, I could see Sanchez's transition to the pen to end the year being sensible to keep his innings down, but competent and John Gibbons (especially bullpen management) don't go together. Sanchez will be throwing 3 days in a row, or 4 out of 5 days, late in the year at some point.
  2. Redneck Cito's use of Osuna has definitely bordered on terrible. Not surprised he's hurting, but hopefully nothing a few days off can't fix.
  3. I like Grilli just for his over the top celebrations to end games. You can tell he's really happy to be with the Jays.
  4. Saunders might be worth a qualifying offer at the rate he's going. Big break for the Jays if that happens.
  5. Getting the playoff drought out of the way last season has at least made me less angry when the Jays lose. The window is nearly closed on the Bautista years, but I've accepted it and am taking whatever I get from this season at is comes. The draft and development of prospects definitely seems more appealing now that I'm seeing how mediocre the big league team is.
  6. They are like 2.5 games out of the 2nd WC so they'll have to dig themselves into a much bigger hole than just further back of the East. I'm leaning towards favoring selling as well for the long-term betterment of the team, but I want the Jays to make the playoffs because it's more fun that way. I'll be happy with either scenario, but don't be around .500 in July. That's all I ask. No more 51-50 ********. Either lead a WC spot or be way out of it. The Jays have a huge opportunity to sell a ton of vets at the deadline to soften the blow after this season. If they are not in the race, they desperately need to take advantage of it.
  7. Gibbons doesn't give a s*** about the future. He knows he's on borrowed time. This is Atkins' fault. They could have fired him already. Instead, they kept him. Now they have to deal with the BS.
  8. Buck advising the Jays to keep the lead. That man earns every dollar he makes.
  9. I hope Biagini starts the 6th. I doubt it, 'cuz Stro hasn't reached 100 pitches yet', but he's not pitching well tonight.
  10. Never thought at any point in 2016 we'd be looking at Sanchez as being way better than Stroman, but here we are.
  11. The key is to not fall in love with that type of player. Buy low, improve value, sell again. Given the contract Ventura has, even if you move him to the pen and he becomes a viable late inning reliever, he'll be an asset. Just don't extend him and make him part of your core, or something like that. D-bags still gon be d-bags. He's not Machado level talent-wise to be worth the head ache over a long period of time.
  12. Ventura for Happ. Which side says no? Jays save a bit of money, get a bit more upside, get a lot more unlikable, and the Royals get a pitcher who would probably thrive in that park.
  13. Yeah the contract is appealing. He's the type of douche bag you acquire cheaply, let him build up his value, and then flip him again when his performance improves but before his douchiness starts to become an issue.
  14. Wow that lineup is ass.
  15. Or maybe a lot of the guys struggling are in their early to mid 30's and we're going to see a drop off regardless. Being an old team sucks. This is why.
  16. Either Sanchez is not on an innings limit or he is but Gibbons don't give a F. It would be nice if the front office and manager at least appeared to be on the same page.
  17. Man, I really hope this team is not hovering around .500 in July. Either sell or (reasonably) go for it. No in between. Finishing .500, missing the playoffs, and then losing all the FA's for nothing is about the worst case scenario for this season. They don't have a crazy run differential this season. They are playing about where they should be, unfortunately.
  18. / Then he should have let him try to end it even when he got into trouble. If he was dealing, why would allowing 2 base runners negate that? I just don't get the 'when the starter gives up a baserunner or two, take him out' philosophy. The reliever comes in at a disadvantage every single time.
  19. Once again, Gibbons brings in a reliever with runners on base rather than just letting the reliever start the freakin' inning. Blame goes to the offense, sure, but Osuna starting the 9th with a 2 run lead would have been much better. The Jays are finally developing a damn fine pitcher. No need for Redneck Cito to value a CG over his arm.
  20. Rumors are going around that Pete Walker was so irate that he had to go back to the clubhouse to cool off after seeing all the strike outs by Sanchez. It got pretty heated, apparently.
  21. Happ is fine. He's a movable piece on a reasonable contract. The drop in K's is worth mentioning though because even when he was mediocre pre-Pitts he was still striking out 7 per 9. I really wish Atkins cleaned house on the coaching staff because I don't think Gibbons/Walker mesh with what the FO wants.
  22. - Fan since August 2015.
  23. 4 run game. Starter has thrown 108 pitches through 8. Gibbons: leaves starter in for one f***ing batter (2 pitches), brings on his closer, and nearly loses the game. Why keep Estrada in the game if you were going to pull him after a batter, and if Osuna was warming up anyway, then why not start the inning with Osuna? Maybe a better question is, why did Atkins not fire him in the off-season when the casuals were s***ing on him and Shapiro anyway, so they could have done it and not been any worse off PR wise?
  24. Atkins could have fired Gibbons after getting swept vs. Tampa. He's not going to fire him now, or probably even at any point this season. We have to live with this s***.
  25. The Baseball God's were not going to allow Gibbons off the hook for leaving Stroman out to dry like this.
