  1. If he doesn't hit into a DP or K, I'll be shocked.
  2. Joe Smith looking good at least.
  3. I kinda want to see how bad the Jays can be this season. Like, get the #1 pick overall type of bad. It would be awful to have to sit through for a year, but kind of interesting.
  4. "Offence is struggling...I know! Start Zeke and bat him lead off! That will fix everything." - Gibby 1.0.
  5. I don't think Donaldson stays either. He doesn't seem like the type who will miss out on testing free agency to maximize his earnings and the front office doesn't seem like the type who will overpay him enough for him to not test free agency. I think if he is traded at all it will be at the deadline in 2018. They won't trade him before that.
  6. Conforto would look so good on the Jays.
  7. That thought entered my mind too. Trade Estrada for 'spects, and then sign him back in the off-season (assuming he's still good).
  8. Rogers won't allow a rebuild. More realistically, just trade the guys who are not going to be around in 2018 (Jose, Estrada, Liriano) and try to replenish a bit more of the farm. The Jays won't be trading Donaldson unless he publicly demands it. They aren't going to f*** up the cash cow they know they have if the team is competitive. They will have to find a way to retool for 2018.
  9. I wants Atkins to go full on Brian Cashman in July. I don't want to see the Jays go on a run just to finish .500. Either be really good or really bad. If they end up really bad, then do what you have to do.
  10. By the end of the season we might be yearning for that draft pick that we lost with Jose re-signing. Could have signed like 3 players for the money Jose got, and given the team more depth.
  11. Martin is going to bat high in the order because of vetrin presentz. It would be nice to have more hitters that could bat ahead of him in Gibby's eyes but I guess we are not there yet.
  12. Well let's be real, the team on paper is about 85 win tier, and that's assuming the old guys don't decline. The team itself is old as s***. As much as I want this team to make the playoffs again, eventually this core will get to a breaking point where they are just too old to contend and JD isn't enough to carry them. They might be there already. I just hope that if they right the ship and make a run, it's a real run. If not, there's a damn good haul to trade at the deadline if they struggle. A Brian Cashman type of trade deadline might be required. Then try again in 2018. (I'm not giving up on 2017 yet for all you crazy bastards who will go nuts with this trade deadline talk...)
  13. I wonder at what point do the bandwagon jumpers hop off, especially with the Raptors and Leafs both in the playoffs. Seats might be plentiful in the next month or so.
  14. Can't believe they actually started the season with him at 1b instead of trying to get an actual left fielder.
  15. AA is lounging on a sofa somewhere knowing he doesn't have to deal with the 3/60 left on Martin's deal.
  16. Gibbons thinks Martin is a better hitter than he actually is. Don't care about sample size, Pearce should be batting higher than both Martin and Smoak.
  17. Yeah, Barney can cover 2b and ss. Just call up Kelly to be a super utility player. Goins is trash.
  18. Morales at first, and Zeke in left for five games? You got it. /Gibby 1.0.
  19. If they are out of it at the deadline? I don't see why not. There's no qualifying offer getting them an extra 1st anymore. Estrada, Liriano, and Bautista (assuming he waives his NTC) are all free agents at the end of the season (dem options on Jose won't be picked up). A quick retool for 2018 isn't out of the question. Anyway, too early to have this discussion. 1-5 (if they can't eek out a comeback today) is nothing this early in the season.
  20. I realized I am a lot less angry about the Jays losing after making the playoffs in 2015-16. That 20 year drought made starts like this feel like absolute s***, but I'm kind of numb to it now since the team succeeded for two years and I kind of expected a drop off with age due to the way the team was built two years ago. Either make the playoffs or trade guys at the deadline to get younger. I'll be happy with either scenario.
  21. Yeah loading the bases on purpose made no damn sense. Just bring in the infield in with 1st/3rd, if they score, they score. But f***, loading the bases on purpose with a fringe AAAA guy on the mound? Come on.
  22. Liriano cost us two games pretty much. Nuked the pen last night, forcing the Jays to call up Lawrence who loses it tonight. O's are 4-0 overall, and 3-0 in one run games already, too. f*** this s***.
