  1. It's fairly cheap and a one year deal. Nothing to complain about.
  2. Ignoring the fact that Fernandez was a generational talent, he threw 135 innings in 2012 with amazing numbers, and then got called up in 2013. Osuna threw 109 innings in 2012, 2013, and 2014 combined, and had TJ surgery. There was nothing indicating that he was worthy of a call up. AA got desperate because he had no money left to pay for a reliever, and he was willing to destroy the development of two of his prospects to fill those spots. I'm fine with how Osuna turned out since there are questions about his durability, but he should have been in the minors being stretched out. Or at least call him up to the bigs as a reliever after he's had a starter's workload in the minors, so that converting him back down the road could have been realistic. Osuna probably had a greater chance of turning out like Castro than he did turning into what he became. That's a credit to his talent more than anything else that he was able to be this good this soon.
  3. The replica beer can giveaway at the stadium is going to be brutal.
  4. Promoting Castro and Osuna when he did was idiotic by AA and will remain so regardless of Osuna's success. If you promoted 100 20-year old's in A-ball with the lack of experience that those two had straight to the big leagues, I'd bet over 90% of them would fail. Osuna's success is actually amazing.
  5. Yeah, why not just have the Cards lose picks rather than awarding them to Houston?
  6. Wasserman owing Shapiro every Cuban prospect they have because of giving Morales an extra year is fine with me.
  7. Yeah that seems like a terrible place for Moss to go. Maybe the guy likes pitchers parks that hold back his best skill.
  8. Didn't Breslow change his arm slot or something? Might be worth a look if they feel it will change his performance for the better. If he's the same old guy, then yeah, I'll pass.
  9. What years in the 2000's was Law in the Jays org? No wonder the drafting under JP sucked for so long.
  10. Damn with that repertoire he could be the next Chapman.
  11. When I saw his name on Twitter a couple of days ago I wondered if the Jays would have interest based on them signing Guirrel seemingly out of no where. Hope it happens. And I still want Carrera's instagram post to be a goodbye to Jays fans. Still holding out hope.
  12. Hopes dashed.
  13. The intragram vid shows pics of many different things (winter tour, pics of the playoff celebrations, etc). Does seem weird to post if he's still with the team, but who knows. Don't tease me. Zeke seems like a good guy, but he's not needed in Toronto and Gibby will play him way more than he deserves, so I'd be fine if he was dealt.
  14. Based on Law's track record with prospects, we should look at his lists in descending order from like 11 onwards. The ones he doesn't value are the ones who usually pan out.
  15. This type of thing is what bad teams do to generate interest in the team. The Jays are coming off back to back playoff appearances, a surge in attendance, and probably a good amount of attendance expected in 2017. No need to do it now. Plus as mentioned the idiots who attend those things will probably boo Shapiro while genuflecting in front of Gibbons, so screw em.
  16. Isn't Salty a horrid framer? I mean, over the 40-50 games he's projected to play barring injury to Martin it probably won't mean much, but whatever.
  17. The only good thing about Salty is that Gibbons wont DH him and bat him clean up. Other than that, he's no different than Navarro. Hope it's cheap.
  18. Jays are close to signing Salty. White Navarro. Shi Davidi ‏@ShiDavidi #BlueJays and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia nearing an agreement, per source:
  19. Or he can sign with one of many teams that will probably give him the player option he wants and have security in case he sucks. A mutual option is not security in case of failure because the team will decline it in that scenario.
  20. I'm not comfortable until Navarro signs somewhere else. I'm dreading his return. Thole was a non factor.
  21. Read up on Shapiro's view on players options. Holland's not signing a mutual option, especially when he likely has a bunch of suitors.
  22. Holland wants an opt out after 1 year, so that probably rules him out for the Jays. I'd definitely prioritize him over a back up catcher or loogy, though.
  23. Oh man, those back-up CA options are awful. Just go with AJ or Graterol and save the money.
  24. I like Pearce playing everyday at first. He's already above average there, and it might keep him healthier. Trading Smoak for a LF that another team hates would be a good move but other than Bruce (who sucks on defence), can't think of a logical fit.
