  1. Rosario, Conforto + for Donaldson? Come on, let's get some ideas going. It's going to be a long year. We'll have nothing better to talk about.
  2. Wasn't it said that Rogers was behind Bautista's re-signing? If so, the lost pick might sting even more for the front office. Damn I wish we found a way to trade for Puig back when he was attainable. Too late now.
  3. Jays need to start the fire sale soon before more old guys get hurt. This is the Baseball Gods revenge for keeping the rotation healthy all year in 2016.
  4. Holy s***, between the injuries, lack of depth, and age on this roster, this season is straight going to rival 2004. The trade deadline might be the only thing that saves us.
  5. Those two would have cost between $150-200mm to bring in together, and right now, Fowler has a 13 wRC+ and Edwin is at 89. The Jays would be in the exact same spot as they are now except tied down to two more unmovable contracts. Dude, this was inevitable. We all hoped the winning could keep happening in spite of the age of the players, but baseball doesn't always work like that.
  6. Not only did AA build an old team, but left nothing in the upper minors. This is Year 2 of Shatkins and only Tellez is in AAA. Two years without a pitching prospect in AAA or a position player prospect other than a 1B. Team needed to keep winning on the big league level to bide some time for the farm to catch up, but wasn't meant to be based on the 2-10 start and now dog pile of injuries coming up. The core got old before the prospects could filter up. Things are going to get worse before they get better. But yeah, let's keep longing for AA. Who wants a team that can win every year when you can have a team that makes the playoffs twice and then falls off the face of the earth again.
  7. Yes. He built the aging roster with a small window of contention. Shatkins tried to stretch the window for as long as they could. This was inevitable.
  8. Donaldson injured, Sanchez injured, lineup full of replacement level talent, old vets showing their age, no help on the way in the minors, and 2-10. This season is not going to be fun.
  9. He doesn't do anything as good as or better than Barney. No need to have both on the same roster, and certainly no need to actually play Goins over Barney. That's just Gibby using his "gut" again. Damn I take back every good thing I said about him. You tricked me during the first week, Gibby.
  10. Yeah, I honestly thought the front office had rubbed off on him, but one cold streak by the offence has made him Gibby 1.0 again. Zeke has reached Fatty Navarro levels when it comes to Gibby's hand picked golden boys. Can't believe they dropped Upton for him.
  11. Goins is not going anywhere. I have come to accept that fact. He'll be around for a long time. If he made the roster this season when they already had Barney on the freaking team, then he'll make it next year when Barney is a free agent. He's the turd who can't be flushed.
  12. Finally a win. Now win tomorrow to at least salvage the series. Hate losing to these bastards.
  13. Graterol is probably better than Salty at this point, at least he could play some D. But they DFA'ed him.
  14. Winning a game seems like the hardest thing in the world for this team. Damn.
  15. Yeah it's almost like circumstances change. What a concept. Fans were predicting a high 80's win total and a WC berth because that was the projection prior to the start of the season. After starting 1-9, that projection has dropped to 80-82, and could plummet now with JD out. If the Jays started 4-6 and people were talking about it, then you'd have a point. But 1-9 and making the playoffs would be historic. Talk of rebuilding is probably more reasonable in June/July when we see how the team does over a few months, but it's not absurd to talk about it in general. Team is old, their star is hurt, upper minors are barren, and window is closing/closed. Accept reality and change direction accordingly or live in a bubble.
  16. The key to winning for the Jays in 2017: shut out the other team. No pressure, starting rotation.
  17. That works if you're going to gut everything and start from scratch, which is probably the better way to go if they are trading Donaldson, but a team owned by Rogers probably isn't going to risk it. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they let Shatkins trade Donaldson if the team is out of it, but even if that were to happen, then they may want to keep Sanchez and Stroman to at least give fans a reason to show up to the park. It wouldn't shock me if the team keeps Donaldson, trades some vets at the deadline, and then tries to win again in 2018. Not because Shatkins wants it, but because Rogers wouldn't want revenue to plummet short term.
  18. The only reason Benintendi might be realistic is because you'd be dealing with Dave Dumnbrowski. That man is AA on steroids when it comes to trading prospects. Otherwise, yeah, that's kind of far fetched.
  19. Out of the "young players" on this team, I think Pillar and Osuna can/should be traded if they decide to rebuild. Don't need a closer on a rebuilding team (sign some cheap rec projects every year until you develop another one), and Pillar as he gets expensive and older will start to lose value as it's unlikely he will keep this level of D for the next 3 years, and he's a s*** hitter. If Pompey isn't completely broken, just put him at CF and let him sink or swim in that role until someone better comes along.
  20. Yep, my thought was Donaldson for Conforto+more as well. Seems like a good fit.
  21. Not only win but score about 10 runs. Baseball is a weird game.
  22. Keeping track of Vladdy and Bichette is going to be more exciting than watching the Jays play this year.
  23. Tulo has one. Other than that, I think him and Bautista are it.
