  1. KJ would be a good bench option.
  2. Nice. So instead of being eased back in like normal spring training, old man Joey is hurting for the sake of a tournament that is so prestigious that guys in their 40's can come out of a decade long retirement to play for their countries. I miss Noah Syndergaard not only because of the type of pitcher he is, but even a guy that young is smart enough to see through bull s***. Too bad a lot of other players can't.
  3. Weren't the Jays going to add the money Sanchez lost with the demotion to his 2017 salary? I thought I read that at the time.
  4. Price was a monster in his two months in Toronto, but would they have missed the playoffs entirely without that deal? I think at worst they would have been a WC team with the Yankees winning the division. If Norris breaks out, then yes, it will be painful. At least with Tulo they get 5 years of him (for better or worse). Two months of Price for a SP with six years of control left is a bit less justifiable to me. The Jays were .500 at the time of the trade, and while they were definitely underachieving, it's not like they were the Cubs of 2016 that were running away with the division. They were 7 games back with two months to go. It was a huge risk that paid off short-term.
  5. Manfred reading those quotes and thinking "man imagine how much time we can save for each game by not running?".
  6. Latos is fubar. This was a shot in the dark and he'll probably be cut by the end of March if he doesn't agree to go to Buffalo (which he probably should but likely won't).
  7. The process needs to change. You can't have one team with an all-star team (Dominican) and the other starting guys in their 40's who have been retired for years. It hurts the integrity of the entire tournament. Maybe they should do the WBC with minor leaguers only. They will be much more likely to participate in it, and will expose fans to the lesser known players.
  8. Looks like they might need a first baseman. You know what to do, Atkins.
  9. In the NBA version of the WBC, Wiggins won't play, but Rick Fox will. That's how stupid this whole thing is.
  10. I think Ryan Dempster and Eric Gagne pitching in 2017 accomplishes that alone. I want the NBA to do something like this so Canada's team would have Steve Nash and Rick Fox on it. Because why the F not?
  11. Kinda hoping Shapkins gives him an under the radar contract extension. Tack on like 2/28 to his 2017 deal, and he'd probably still be surplus value.
  12. I just had a scary thought. With Travis likely starting on the DL, you think Gibby will platoon Goins/Barney at 2B until he gets back rather than wisely start Barney instead? I've had enough of Goins already. Dude never seems to go away.
  13. Nah, he reminds of a bully who used to pick on me in high school, and pull my suspenders off my plaid shirts. So I will forever hate him for that. Don't want.
  14. You don't want your children to master the art of Edward 40 Hands, throwing helmets at umpires, and tattooing Eminem lyrics on themselves? Your loss.
  15. Based on everything about him, he is very annoying.
  16. Pagan is a clear upgrade in the outfield, and the Jays are interested in this douche? I mean, I guess he makes sense to back-up Donaldson at 3B in case of injury, and Travis at 2B when Devon goes on his 3 month trip to the DL, but is Lawrie even better than Barney at this point? Now if they sign Pagan AND Lawrie, and replace Zeke and Smoak, then we're talking. IMproves the team and more versatile bench. Don't see that happening though.
  17. Syndergaard is still the man.
  18. The plan of Smoak continuing to suck so that Pearce gets full-time ABs at first is already looking promising. Keep dem K's coming, Justin.
  19. Travis misses half the season with something. Sanchez and Happ regress, Stroman and Liriano improve. Pearce ends up with a higher WAR than Encarnacion (yes I went there!) Morales has a better season than expected (1.5-2.0 WAR). Carrera gets way too many AB's and has an April so awful that he gets demoted. Smoak, see Carrera.
  20. The neck bearded mouth breathers on Sportsnet Canada are going to conveniently forget that they blasted the front office for not wanting Price back a year ago. Price is a good dude so not happy he's hurt. Sucks for him. That huge ass contract is probably nice to fall back on though.
  21. Smoak s***ing the bed in ST so badly that even the F.O. says "f*** this" would be great. Give Pearce all the AB's he can get.
  22. Gibbons had to have learned his lesson from last year.
  23. Yeah, he definitely won't start the season in the bigs for that reason (nevermind having Pearce and Smoak on the roster). This regime actually cares about service time and options. It wouldn't surprise me if he spends all of 2017 in AAA unless Pearce/Smoak both crash hard and he is tearing the cover off the ball. With Morales at DH, Tellez's only open spot is 1B, and Smoak/Pearce are two players the F.O. likes a lot. Don't see him being a factor in 2017. Maybe 2018.
  24. "Story of the spring" on February 28 and, what, 3 games in? Wilner's gonna Wilner.
  25. The amount of deferred money given by the Nats over the last few years is probably well over nine figures by now.
