That's also possible. The Jays and Rays are on two different paths so a player closer to the Majors (or already in the Majors) would have more value to the Rays than lottery tickets in low A.

I just don’t see the point of the Rays trading two prospects for Sogard and then flipping him immediately if they were going to get equal or less value for him than what they gave up. Either they are keeping him or they feel like they can move him for something better. Otherwise why else make the deal from their perspective? Another possibility is they were contacted by teams the moment the trade happened and then realized they could move him for value. Who really knows. We will have to wait and see what the Jays get first.

Man, if the Rays flip Sogard for better value than what they gave up literally a day or two after trading for him, then that would be embarrassing. Not surprising though. The Rays know talent better than almost every other team.

My initial reaction still stands, I think this was a bad trade. The Jays should have gotten more, especially since they did this deal 3 days before they had to. You guys have kept me from jumping off the ledge with the SWR hype, and maybe down the road we will look at this trade differently, but right now? It feels way too light of a return. If this is the best offer they got, then thank goodness this seems like the last season the Jays will go into the deadline with vet trade pieces. This market is prime for buyers. We need to start buying this winter (free agency, trading fringe/expendable prospects for vets, etc).

Yeah you guys are reeling me in with the SWR fapping. I hope we look back a year or two from now and all the haters, like me, look foolish for doubting this. I'm not expecting much of anything from Kay, but if SWR has a Patino kind of prospect rise next year, then the discussion will definitely look different.

I can buy that teams did not view Stro as a top of the rotation type due to his K rate, and may have been offering less because of it, but I can't imagine offers were worse than this. With that said, SWR does look intriguing. He's so far away though.

It has to be Diaz plus pitching prospects. Then they could flip Diaz to a 3rd team or keep him and trade him later. It can't possibly be just pitching prospects from the f***ing Mets. Atkins don't do this again....

The Rays usually buy low. They are buying high here, unless they can turn Sogard into something even better than this (wouldn't surprise me). I'm not expecting much of anything, but a minor league signing, 2+ WAR, and a prospect is a decent string of events.

Maybe the Jays and Mets are trying to do a deal with Stro and Diaz as the main pieces, with the Jays flipping Diaz to a 3rd team. That would only make sense if the Jays could get more than Diaz for Stroman, that way we'd have a prospect(s) from the Mets plus whatever we get back for Diaz.

We are going to get s*** for Hudson, not that I was expecting anything for him to begin with. That’s probably all I’ve learned so far in this boring ass deadline. Can something meaningful please happen soon?

Thornton throws like 80 pitches in 2 innings and then goes on the IL. Borucki comes off the DL and is allowed to throw 40 pitches in an inning. Montoyo trying to squeeze innings out of s***** SPs but it’s going to backfire.
