  1. Yeah that is the main issue with me. Not only about "optics" but also spreading the risk out a little bit more. It's fine that he specifically targets a player that is undervalued, but if he is consistently giving up more/getting less when acquiring those players, it's a sign of bad negotiating. Maybe he's just super confident in his own player development. I hope he's right.
  2. I expect the team to start adding in the winter of 2020, heading into the 2021 season. Next year will probably be another down year, possibly with a bit more volatility with young talent rather than veteran s***, so hopefully a win total in the 70's. Then they'll start to add pieces for 2021.
  3. Go get him. Even if his arm is toast, it's a risk the Jays can easily afford to take.
  4. I just want ShAtkins to draft and sign international players. No more trades.
  5. Feldman in 2016. Teoscar in 2017. Giles, Paulino, Perez in 2018. Whoever we got for Biagini in 2019. Atkins and the Astros trade deadline buddies.
  6. Man I hope there are at least a few more trades today (Smoak and Galvis at least).
  7. I liked Stroman until he endorsed Keith Law. You just don't do that.
  8. I'd hold on to Sanchez unless a team offers something decent, and I say that as someone who can't stand him and his unwarranted ego. He will be a pretty cheap arb case next year, the rotation depth on the team is suspect, and he's a Boras client in a FA year next year. Combine those things together and I'd take a chance on keeping him in 2020. If he sucks again, then DFA him. If he's better a year from now, trade him. No real urgency to move him unless there is a decent offer.
  9. Hopefully the Jays move both Galvis and Smoak today. I wouldn't mind Galvis sticking around if I felt he would be used as a utility/bench player, but he'd probably get a ton of AB's that would be better served for younger talent. Some team out there could use infield depth, and we already know teams showing interest in Smoak.
  10. The lineup full of prospects and youth is at least going to be fun to watch the rest of the year, even if the pitching is going to be ass. Even Hernandez in CF is looking somewhat intriguing now.
  11. Ok, adding Moss and Nova definitely makes it a better deal for Cleveland than what the Jays got. Atkins should have gotten at least one more piece from the Mets.
  12. At first glance, I actually prefer the Jays return as well, and I thought it was disappointing as hell. I'm basing that off Puig, Reyes, and Allen, though. If there are more names, then I'll wait to reserve judgment.
  13. Yikes, just read up on Allard. Yeah, trading an injured Giles for him would be disappointing, much less a healthy one. Probably a case of selling high by AA.
  14. 7 straight balls by SRF. Only 3 more to go.
  15. Yeah that is a surprising return for Martin. There was a rumor that the Braves were interested in Biagini (3.5 years of control left). I doubt we could have gotten Allard for him, but he's younger than Martin.
  16. Giles getting hurt sucks but the 3 days in a row thing still bothers me. He might have gotten hurt regardless but what a stupid f***ing decision by Montoyo. I agree, keep him the rest of the year and revisit a trade in the off season. The return will be poor compared to what it could have been tomorrow but whatever.
  17. Semi related, don’t let Montoyo anywhere near Nate Pearson. I’m serious. Not even five feet.
  18. Having Giles for only one playoff instead of two will destroy his value even if he’s healthy in the winter/next deadline. He will be expensive next year as well, likely too expensive for a rebuilding team like the Jays. He will be moved but the return won’t be very good. Damn.
  19. I know I’m messing around.
  20. Score more runs to make it a non save situation and then tape Montoyo’s mouth shut during the post game interview so he cant answer why Giles wasn’t used. It was a non save situation. Next question.
  21. Yeah keep him and trade him in the winter for less. No other choice. Hiring Montoyo was done so somebody could be here when we lose 100 games, but he potentially killed one of our best assets with carelessness.
