  1. Reese McGuire has to catch Sanchez for the rest of the season.
  2. Maybe the Jays and Mets are trying to do a deal with Stro and Diaz as the main pieces, with the Jays flipping Diaz to a 3rd team. That would only make sense if the Jays could get more than Diaz for Stroman, that way we'd have a prospect(s) from the Mets plus whatever we get back for Diaz.
  3. We are going to get s*** for Hudson, not that I was expecting anything for him to begin with. That’s probably all I’ve learned so far in this boring ass deadline. Can something meaningful please happen soon?
  4. Quantrill was suggested by Rosenthal, I believe. I don't think it's an actual rumor. At least I hope not.
  5. Thornton throws like 80 pitches in 2 innings and then goes on the IL. Borucki comes off the DL and is allowed to throw 40 pitches in an inning. Montoyo trying to squeeze innings out of s***** SPs but it’s going to backfire.
  6. The Mets are run by a clown. I’m intrigued by that Rosey tweet (though no f***ing thanks to Quantrill).
  7. Yup. Make a ridiculous offer to Cashman so he f***s off and you can trade with someone else. I approve. No more deals with Cashman.
  8. Atkins taking the glasses off and getting serious.
  9. d'Arnaud with a 126 wRC+ and 1.3 WAR since being traded to the Rays. I swear, that org could turn one of us into a big league player.
  10. Balazovic, Duran, and Urbina for Stroman works on that trade simulator thingy. I think Graterol just has too many red flags for me to build a package around him, and Larnach looks ordinary. The lower minors guys are further away but could be fast risers.
  11. Graterol has already had TJS and is now suffering shoulder issues. He's clearly the best pitcher in their system but there is a lot of risk there.
  12. Yeah I'm only stat scouting, but his numbers in the minors don't look anything special. Unless he can play CF, I wouldn't want a package built around him. I would assume he will be included in any deal though since the Twins don't really need him.
  13. Morosi is such a troll with his tweets. He knows nothing. Either Kenny Ken, or someone like Sherman/Heyman who once in a while will be the first to announce something. Morosi is s***.
  14. The thing is Shapiro seems like he would be really good in that role of communicating with players, even in his interviews he can describe things very clearly and logically, but Atkins might not be cut out for that, and it shows.
  15. Yeah the fact that players are so comfortable taking shots at Shatkins whether they are on the way out or in the minors waiting for a callup (Bo) is not good. They need to fix that s***. Even if it's an optics issue, hire someone to deal with that.
  16. No GM in the world believes or ever believed that the Jays want to extend Stroman.
  17. Stating a fact, not complaining.
  18. I don't think we are disagreeing here. The Jays don't have to trade him, so any team that low balls them will (hopefully) have to up their offer or f*** off. That doesn't mean other teams actually believe the Jays will extend him, and the Jays don't want to be in a position like they were with JD where they have a top asset with one year of control in a market where control is everything. Teams know this as well. So someone is going to bend, either Atkins or the team that acquires Stroman. If Stro has the type of value that Joel Sherman says he does, then we should be in a good spot regardless, but Atkins still has to prove his trading ability.
  19. If teams know the Jays have no intention of extending him, then the only leverage is the 2020 year of control, which is clearly leverage as the Jays can just keep him instead of making a bad trade. My point was that Stroman is saying he's not signing an extension, I think most people know the Jays have no interest in doing so (whether due to Stro's demands or otherwise), so the threat of an extension isn't really a thing. I'm just responding to that quote at face value. At this point, everyone knows he's available and the Jays will take the best offer they get (unless it is dog s***, in which case I hope they just hold on to him). Everything else is just posturing which is typical around this time.
  20. They don't have to trade him, yes, but it is hard to use "we might extend him" as leverage when Stroman is saying the opposite every time someone puts a mic under his mouth. So in that sense, leverage is not on the Jays side. They can obviously keep him and use him in 2020, and maybe work on an extension at that point, but I don't think the Jays have any plans on doing that and other teams know it.
  21. Yeah whatever leverage the Jays could have had was destroyed by Stro going public. Everyone knows they are trading him.
  22. Yup that makes more sense. No way Tulo would have retired if it meant giving up a penny of his contract. Too good to be true. Oh well. Traded for in July 2015, replacement level by 2017, retired by 2019. Wow.
  23. That's the best news I took out of that. Floor they are comfortable with, offers increasing, and Yankees out of it? Sounds good to me.
  24. Tulo retires. What does that mean regarding what the Jays owe him?
