Another thing is the 40 man roster is loaded with young P's. Just in AAA/MLB, off the top of my head, there is Thornton, Shoemaker, Borucki, Zeuch, Kay, SRF, Pannone, Waguespack, Merryweather, Perez, Murphy, Diaz, Hatch (will be added). They'll add Pearson soon enough. If they sign a couple of starters from free agency, then that's way too many arms for the AAA/MLB rotation. Sure some of them will get hurt or suck, but some of them also profile as relievers, if they are not traded. I actually think it would be a smart idea to convert someone like SRF to the pen. Merryweather is apparently throwing 100 so he might be an option (assuming they can't find a place for him to start). We don't need an entire pen of trash bags in their 30's who we want to trade for something at the deadline.
