  1. Baltimore can't afford to lose against weak teams like Houston.. especially with a big series coming up with the elite Tigers(21-12!), who will send out Porcello, Smyly and Verlander. The other question is whether Wieters' injury ruins the pitchers, as Clevenger and Joseph are downgrades offensively and defensively. Don't be fooled by their current record.. let's see what the O's do against elite, contending teams. Rays and Astros aren't exactly contenders. (O's have a 5-0 record vs. the awful Rays this year, BTW.)
  2. Well, you partially got your wish. Santos is headed for the DL with a forearm strain. You do realize these Angels pitchers are actually good, right? 4 good starters with WHIPs in the 1.10s with a decent offense. It's the blasted bullpen that's held them back. If they could straighten it out, these Angels could easily be well into 1st in the AL West. It's not surprising the Jays are having trouble with the Angels. Just be glad we get Cleveland and Texas next, both having issues with their pitching staff(excluding Yu Darvish). Those series are a good chance for the Jays to bounce back.
  3. They built it because Exhibition Stadium was a disaster, especially with flooding at a Argos game causing people to demand a dome. Do your research. Plus, it's cold in April and September/October. Here's the reason: The main impetus for building an enclosed sports venue came following the Grey Cup game in November 1982, held at the outdoor Exhibition Stadium. The game was played in a driving rainstorm that left most of the crowd drenched, leading the media to call it "the Rain Bowl". As many of the seats were completely exposed to the elements, thousands watched the game from the concession section. To make a bad experience even worse, the washrooms overflowed. In attendance that day was then-Ontario Premier Bill Davis, and the poor conditions were seen by the largest TV audience ever in Canada (over 7,862,000 viewers) to that point.[13] The following day, at a rally at Toronto City Hall, tens of thousands of people who were there to see the Toronto Argonauts began to chant, "We want a dome! We want a dome!" That's why we have Skydome/Rogers Centre.
  4. CC Sabathia is out with a knee injury. Aceves to rotation.. not good news for the Yankees.
  5. UPDATE: Wieters to DL, and will face Tommy John surgery on July 1 if he can't throw by then.
  6. Don't forget the Texas and Seattle games later. We're chasing them as well.
  7. Sabathia's pitches have been really hittable so far. Brewers already have 3 HRs off of him.
  8. Angels haven't contended since the Yanks won the World Series in 2009. And the Angels haven't been a contending team in several years.
  9. Rays lose again (sigh...) 15-21 now. At least Allen bailed out Axford.. but why is Axford so awful? (and BTW, we will be seeing him next week). How much longer is Rays ownership going to tolerate this futility? Yankees win, Rangers win, O's win, and we drop to 2 back (and 1 back of a wild card tie with TEX/SEA). let's do better tomorrow. And this is #1,000 for me..
  10. Doesn't help that Garret Richards is good at K'ing everyone and preventing hits.
  11. John Axford (who is related to someone I know) blew up vs. the Rays. Cody Allen is in to try to clean up the mess.
  12. Yu Darvish just can't seem to get his no-hitter..
  13. 3 outs to go to a Yu Darvish no-no.. and it'd be even bigger doing it vs. the Red Sox.
  14. Oh give it a rest. Santos needed the work. If you think our bullpen management is bad, go watch a Rays game, which Joe Maddon has been even worse than John Gibbons in bullpen management (they've used 5 pitchers out of the pen tonight).. of course, that may be more due to ineffectiveness of the Rays relievers, plus none of the starters going deep.
  15. Tomorrow should be better. Garret Richards is probably their best pitcher. Using xFIP, the Angels next three starters are: Skaggs 4.04 Weaver 4.14 Wilson 3.28 Next two games are winnable with two mediocre Angels starters.. and we'll have Buehrle on Monday most likely vs. Wilson.
  16. That and Boston's offense is struggling badly. Buchholz is struggling again, giving up 6 ER on 10 hits.
  17. Tough game. Garret Richards is nasty. Let's start a new win streak tomorrow..
  18. Exactly. And he's warming in the pen. Watch him blow another save..
  19. No lefty in the Angels bullpen. Dino Ebel(acting manager for Sciosia) will just leave Smith out there, because most of his other options stink.
