  1. Decent chance for a win tonight. And Pillar is finally up here, like people on this board have wanted him to. Just because Cleveland has been on a winning streak, it has more to do with playing bad teams like Tampa and Minnesota. They have done poorly against elite teams like LA, SF, Detroit and Toronto. Not to mention the Jays lineup is deeper now with Pillar up, Lind healthy, and Francisco, Lawrie, EE, etc. all in the lineup at the same time.
  2. Getting back on topic, here's an update on Jose Fernandez, and it's not good. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24561138/surgery-recommended-as-fernandez-heads-today-for-2nd-opinion Significant tear in UCL. Tommy John surgery is imminent. Out until May-August 2015, based on a 12-15 month recovery.
  3. Hey, Daniel Descalso may not be the only position player pitching tonight.. the Rays will likely have to have S-Rod or Forsythe to pitch if this blowout continues.
  4. Cubs are laying waste to the Cardinals..really! 17-5. And Daniel Descalso is now pitching.
  5. Ramos getting destroyed by the Mariners.. and worse, the Rays seem to know that the franchise is going to be blown up soon.. 4 errors tonight, including bad errors by Longoria, and a Bill Buckner-type error by Loney!
  6. They can't hit with RISP, plus they've had serious regression with several players, and STILL haven't called up Oscar Taveras.
  7. Man, the Rays are acting like the 2013 Jays right now.. except a bad Rays season could threaten the franchise's future in Florida. No way Sternberg will continue to run the team with no new stadium coming and the franchise likely heading for a rebuild, which will equal Expos-level crowds.
  8. And McCann kills any hope of the Yankees winning by grounding into a DP... that deal the Yankees gave him is already looking like an albatross, while John Ryan Murphy is looking like a better option than him.
  9. More bad news for the sinking Yankees.. Beltran left tonight's game with a potential knee injury. Worse, they're losing to the Mets after the bullpen trifecta of Aceves/Thornton/Claiborne proceeded to hand over 5 runs to the Mets(including 2 HR by Chris Young and Eric Young.)
  10. Seattle already up 3-0 on the Rays. Just blow the darn thing up in Tampa already.. they're not going to contend, even in a weak AL East.
  11. Tigers also have a number of double-headers to come to make up for a ton of April rainouts.
  12. Tigers have basically already won the Central(they're 7-8 games up in the loss columns, with a number to make up due to rainouts).. nobody in that division is even close to the Tigers. And whether Oakland keeps up their success depends on health in their rotation, and the threesome of Gray, Kazmir and Chavez staying healthy and strong.. their #4 and #5 starters have been awful, with Milone, Straily, Pomeranz and Lindblom not exactly contributing. A's fans better hope the Angels don't start figuring it out..
  13. Well, Sonny Gray, Gerrit Cole and Michael Wacha haven't gotten hurt yet.. but Salazar (who we will see Thursday) has significantly regressed. Erik Johnson is in AAA, Rienzo has been mediocre, Jordan has been awful, and Paxton is hurt. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20140121/year-after-effect-micahel-wacha-gerrit-cole-masahiro-tanaka/
  14. Jays should really do that call up of Gose.. both Redmond and Rogers should be rested by the Cleveland series if we need a long man.. and we have Dickey pitching tomorrow.
  15. Delabar now in.. hopefully he can avoid blowing this so we can bridge to Janssen.. at least Santos isn't here to blow it.
  16. Rasmus out with right hamstring tightness per Shi Davidi.
  17. What the heck is with Rasmus? Anyway, it's Bautista in CF, Tolleson in RF, Lawrie at 2B, Francisco at 3B.. and I have no clue if Rasmus is hurt or not.. there was no indication of an injury.
  18. Guess we won't see him until early May 2015 if it's Tommy John surgery, considering the 12 month recovery.
  19. Mostly the impact on the team. After all, he was Rookie of the Year last season, and was a Cy Young candidate. Wonder if Andrew Heaney or Justin Nicolino gets promoted..
  20. Sorry, I should've provided links. But before the presser, I had heard that it was elbow-related via Twitter.
  21. Here's a source: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24559842/report-jose-fernandez-having-mri-for-unknown-injury Ken RosenthalVerified account ‏@Ken_Rosenthal Fernandez to DL with right elbow sprain Results of MRI pending for Fernandez. Headed back to Miami. clarkspencer ‏@clarkspencer Redmond: I think you're always concerned when you're talking about elbows. It's a big blow. Elbow sprains usually lead to Tommy John surgery.
  22. Sources say it's an elbow injury. Looks like Tommy John Surgery is coming for Jose Fernandez.
