  1. And with Zobrist on the DL, their offense scuffling and their pitching having difficulty going deep into games, taxing the bullpen(most overworked pen in the majors thus far according ESPN) the spiral downward could get worse for the Rays. Even Cobb may not help.. since he can't hit, something the Rays need badly, as they struggle to score runs. We don't know how Cobb will pitch after that injury. BTW 1 hit, 7 walks? That's a sign of a very bad team when you walk the park and allow the opposing team to win on so few hits.
  2. As long as he continues to stabilize the pen, it's not out of the question the Jays could go on a big run that could allow them to take a big lead in the AL East.
  3. And at 19-28, expect those fire sale rumors to increase. They're only slightly better than... the Houston Astros! At least Houston has talent for the future.. Tampa mortgaged its future by NOT trading David Price last winter, when his value was highest. And their farm system has dried up.. they have basically nothing coming in the system that is MLB ready, and several prospects like Hak-Ju Lee, Tim Beckham, etc. keep getting hurt or underperforming. They do have a young OF in Mike Mahtook.. but he's a terrible prospect with little power, only in the Rays Top 20 list due to the Rays lack of depth in the farm. Current OF Kevin Kiermaier isn't even a good prospect, ranked a below average 45 overall on MLB's rankings. They do have pitching prospects in the system, but several are hurt (Colome), suspended (Guerreri), and struggling (Karns, Montgomery.. don't be fooled by his recent no-hitter.. and Enny Romero) But they need position players.. they have NO MLB ready stars in that system that some fans think is one of the best in the game.. not even close. IIRC, most critics called the Rays farm system near the bottom of MLB right now, due to strong records making it difficult to draft decent talent. This is the worst Rays team since 2007..
  4. Scouts who are probably from the Dodgers, Blue Jays, Yankees, Red Sox, etc. evaluating the players the Rays will be dumping in about a month when ownership orders a fire sale ala Montreal Expos, knowing the franchise isn't going to survive in Tampa. Zobrist would look good in a Jays uniform..
  5. When are they going to move the Rays? That stadium is a joke.
  6. Weird game in Tampa, though.. Oakland's getting 1 hit by Bedard and the bullpen, and yet are in line to win.
  7. If only Boston's pitching after Lester and maybe Lackey wasn't so awful.. and don't guarantee their young arms in AAA will help. They are prospects for a reason.
  8. Jays win! We have a share of 1st place with the win. Wow, is the AL East awful..
  9. Out goes Rogers, in goes Cecil. Can we DFA Rogers once we need to bring Hendriks up on Saturday?
  10. Weird game in Pittsburgh.. Baltimore has tied it up at 8, but Machado just struck out with the bases loaded, hurting any chance of Baltimore taking the lead.
  11. Tillman and Brach have combined to give up 8 runs to a punchless Pirates team.
  12. And Tillman is out after only 1 IP.. Cleveland is probably cheering right now.
  13. Tillman is garbage in Pittsburgh tonight.. had a 6-4 lead after Wandy Rodriguez gave up 6 before being yanked, and he just pi**ed it away by giving up a base hit to Pedro Alvarez, tying the game at 6 with 0 outs yet in the 2nd..
  14. Holy lack of range, Sizemore! That's terrible when Lind is able to get a 3B..
  15. Xander Bogaerts being like Hanley Ramirez? Guess he'll be shipped to Miami for Giancarlo Stanton and others at season's end, just like Hanley Ramirez was traded for Beckett and Lowell.
  16. Boston only has 6 relievers available tonight (Mujica is not available due to throwing 40+ pitches last night.) And Capuano isn't stretched out to go more than 2 innings.
  17. Baltimore losing 4-1 to Pittsburgh. Jays need this win for a 1st place tie with the Yankees, who will be likely tired going into Chicago(White Sox) having burned out their pen in the 13-inning affair with the Cubs.
