  1. Pillar's only here until Rasmus comes off the DL. And what happens if Francisco has a big emergence similar to Bautista and Encarnacion? After all, they blossomed after they came to Toronto, becoming All-Stars. Why do we need three catchers anyway? We could use Goins or Kawasaki on the bench right now for infield depth.
  2. Brendan Kennedy ‏@BKennedyStar 11m #bluejays option RH reliever Neil Wagner back to Buffalo as Dioner Navarro returns from dealing with undisclosed family issue. After getting lit up earlier this week, it's not surprising. And with McGowan going back to the bullpen, Wagner is no longer needed right now. Still a question why Kratz is still here.. we could use another infielder.
  3. Very fast game tonight. Didn't expect Hutch would be only at 91 pitches going into the 9th. As I said, this would be a devastating loss for Texas if they lose this game, especially considering Robbie Ross Jr. and Nick Martinez are going to get lit up vs. the Jays, and their bullpen has been terrible as well.. BTW, is Shawn Tolleson related to our Steve Tolleson?
  4. What a mess in Cleveland tonight.. McAllister doesn't get out of the 2nd inning. Makes that short start by Salazar look worse.
  5. Correction.. Robbie Ross Jr. starts tomorrow, not Colby Lewis. Regardless, the Rangers are screwed if they lose tonight.
  6. Darvish is going to need a good outing tonight.. the next two starters (Lewis and Martinez) aren't exactly good pitchers, and their bullpen was hit hard yesterday. And there will the question on how effective Darvish will be after nearly throwing a no-hitter last time after throwing 126 pitches(of which the no-hitter not only didn't happen, but an error was changed to a hit for David Ortiz a few days later.)
  7. xFIP doesn't matter when a guy like Salazar can't get out of the 5th inning in his starts. We saw Terry Francona have to heavily use his bullpen yesterday.. and they have a difficult series vs. Oakland this weekend. I expect Bauer will be called up next time they need a starter.
  8. Unfortunately, unless Mookie Betts learns to play LF, he won't see Boston anytime soon, with Pedroia blocking 2B and Xander Bogaerts at SS, along with Will Middlebrooks and Gavin Cecchini at 3B.
  9. And meanwhile Bauer is still dominating in AAA.. he should be up here and Salazar should be in AAA.
  10. Low scoring game in Flushing.. 0-0 in the Mets/Yankees game. Both deGrom and Whitley are having good debuts, although it may be due to both teams having offensive struggles.
  11. I'll take both that real Ace and that cardboard cutout..(I really like mascots) Anyway, Salazar is already at 91 pitches. Indians bullpen is gonna get used quite a bit tonight.
  12. Pretty much. d'Arnaud can't catch a break. Good thing they still have Syndegaard..
  13. Well, that was ugly. BTW, that was Tolleson's 5th career pitching appearance (4 minors, 1 MLB). I expect Stroman and Wagner to be optioned after this game for fresh arms. Stroman needs to go back to starting in AAA, as he's not MLB ready yet.
  14. 5 starters and 2 relievers on the DL right now. 6 position players too.
  15. http://rangersblog.dallasnews.com/2014/05/matt-harrison-facing-spinal-fusion-surgery-martin-perez-has-partial-tear-in-elbow-ligament.html/ Harrison's back is so bad he may have to retire or "live" with the condition, which will mean a lot of DL stints. Martin Perez is headed for potential Tommy John surgery at worst. Otherwise, he's out 10-12 weeks. At least they have Yu Darvish. I know this should be on Around Baseball, but we're heading to Texas this weekend, and the Rangers rotation has been absolutely ravaged with injuries.
  16. Remember how much people hated the Gomes and Aviles/Rogers deal? Gomes has continued to hit.. but the Indians are sooner or later going to have to move him off C.. 9 errors for a catcher is unacceptable for a MLB catcher, and he's 5th in giving up SBs.
  17. Salazar has an ERA of 5.65 and 1.61 WHIP, and one step towards AAA with Bauer pitching well. And Indians defense isn't very good, with the team posting the most errors in the AL, led by Yan Gomes (9, way too many for a catcher, with 4 passed balls, worst in the AL.. and we should know, considering what we had to put with in JPA. Perhaps he and Santana should switch positions..)
  18. With these Indians and the pitching-starved Rangers(excluding Darvish), we have a good chance.
  19. What a meltdown for the Orioles.. they had the win in the bag, and Tommy Hunter melts down again.. his ERA's up to 6.60. How much longer are the O's gonna stick with him? As a result of the Yanks getting blown out and the Red Sox struggling, we're going to leap up to 2nd tonight. Meanwhile, Tampa continues to bring up the rear(and the game's on SN Pacific and West right now.)
  20. One of the prospects the Jays gave up in the Josh Johnson/Mark Buehrle/Jose Reyes megadeal, Anthony DeSclafani, will make his MLB debut tomorrow. Why couldn't they just call up Andrew Heaney? He would've been a better option.. DeSclafani hasn't exactly lit it up in AA.
  21. Another TJS, this time Jose Cisnero. Evan Drellich ‏@EvanDrellich Jose Cisnero's to have Tommy John next week
  22. Vidal Nuno is garbage. 24 pitches just to get the first out so far... and the Mets are getting long at-bats at him. And because the Mets hitters now have full info, Granderson just hit a 3-run homer off him.. 4-0 Mets.
  23. Getz outrighted to AAA as well.
  24. And just remember, Toronto's run differential is still the only one in the AL East in the green.. everyone else is still negative.
