    You don't think if he could, he would have signed Shields + a BP arm? The only thing preventing him from doing that is the guy upstairs who set the budget. Granted other teams with smaller budgets look to have better all around teams, but that's what will happen when you don't trade off your stars to rebuild. So in that respect, we do need a GM who can manage quick rebuilds and trade older stars for high end prospects but I also blame Rogers for not putting in the extra $ this team needed to compete.

    Well, then it has to be a budget issue because we knew the pen and SP were weak to begin with. Only certain posters here made 'projections' that everything was going to be ok because we had 'depth' but most of us wanted a legit #1 guy in the offseason, like Shields. How good would he have looked in a Jays uni?

    Most likely not though. Don't judge how well a team is based on how they play the Jays. The jays have hitting just no pitching. I know a couple of sabermetric warriors here thought they had the team figured out based on projections but we all knew starting pitching and the BP were weak.

    I really want to like Martin, but Shields would have been such a better fit for this club.

    Ya but he doesn't make a lot of money, so he's a good fit! Like did we really think Redmond/Hynes would last a full year? Come on..

    Too bad rogers didn't want to fork over money for the SP and BP this year. But at least JFAs projects we have a lot of depth, that's really good.

    I don't think anyone is blaming Dickey obviously. No one hit last night. The meat of the lineup isn't hitting yet, and Martin is off to a really really slow start.

    Shields would have been a good #1 at this point, but when you don't have money, you can't sign expensive pitchers..

    I don't remember ever seeing this many empty seats for the Yanks. Blue Jays not a big enough draw?

    I find ootp15 very similar to ootp16. It's a solid game, just wish they added some more stuff to the financial part of the game. But not a huge change from 15 to 16.

    That would be amazing. Has anyone found out who was responsible for this cheesy slogan? Btw that reminds me, has anyone heard of the brand comme des garcons. I swear it really exists.

    I have a better idea. Make it a 300m retrofit, and then add 20m/yr in payroll for the next 5 years so the team could try to make the playoffs. That would mean signing international players like Cubans, that other teams such as the Red Sox are doing.

    Yes, otherwise they would have signed a quality #1 pitcher this offseason or added to the BP. The jays don't have money left, so they are forced to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

    I'd assume he would have a very lengthy rehab and pitching in the minors before he pitches in a mlb game. Why would it matter if he pitches in November/December anyways?

    Well, a lot of us were gunning for them to sign a real #1 this year. But, they just didn't have the coin. Now they have the worst rotation in the AL east. Either AA reacts and trades for a #1, or they need to tank. Status quo is going to leave this club most likely in last place in the division right now.
