  1. lol fair enough, disingenuous if not contradictory. Again my issue was more so with his comments about the pitching staff than the turf.
  2. Aside from the contradictory nature of his two statements about the effects of the turf on his body, it's not an issue I'm disputing. I do take some issue with the notion that "the pitching staff struggled at times". The starters were good, relievers poor and overall as a staff about average, maybe slightly better. Take into account that the defence owns a share of responsibility for the "struggles" and I'd say it's a reasonable gripe.
  3. lol at "I'm not trying to throw rocks here- our pitching staff struggled at times". Indeed, mainly when certain fielders caused them to throw an extra 15 pitches an inning...but the turf brah, can't blame the fielders. Apparently noodle arms aren't specific to throwing baseballs, but also extends to throwing rocks.
  4. Perhaps, but minus points for being publicly "out Jewished" by another poster
  5. I instantly regretted that hypothetical and in retrospect I may have misinterpreted "You could make two full rotations of pitchers better than him before you pick up Strasburg" as "you could build two rotations via FA before signing Strasburg". Essentially what I objected to was equating the fact that 13 pitchers outperformed him between 2012-2014 to the notion that there are 13 pitchers more valuable than him available via FA.
  6. That's a bit of an oversimplification. Hypothetically if every pitcher in baseball was available via FA this offseason, the list of guys worth Strasburg money is a lot shorter. Off the top of my head: Kershaw, Sale, Harvey, Fernandez, Bumgarner, Hernandez? Edit: There's probably a handfull of pitchers that in reality are not immediately approaching FA, that in that particular hypothetical would also have to be listed; however, the point stands that there probably aren't 12 pitchers worth more in FA than Stras.
  7. Precisely my thought regarding this trade, I like the Nats, but arguably this is a lateral move at best. Presumably Boras pitched it as sign Scherzer, flip an existing SP for some controllable/high-upside pieces that mitigate the potential impending loss of Desmond/Stras/Zimm to FA. Personally I'd rather keep the draft picks, Souza, greater financial flexibility, and try a mini-retool of the roster by moving Werth or something to that effect. Essentially they've achieved a marginal upgrade at SP this year, in a division they were already prepared to win easily and created some very real issues for the future.
  8. Disagree, GD's reaction seems proportionate. Much as I dislike the broadcast lineup, I think it could be salvaged with a position shuffle. Buck doing play-by-play, Zaun doing colour, Ginger Jamie doing Central and Pat sitting on his ass at home might actually be tolerable.

  11. Well that's embarrassing, most illiterate poster of 2014: Lunchbox
  12. New avatar? http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/avatars/64/6404e2638e8affb4946cef9f171acff1fc31373a_full.jpg Also I'm pretty sure this thread already exists
  13. I'm fairly certain Spanky and Gruber had a similar week-long pissing contest last off-season regarding how much dick Ryan Goins can fit in his mouth.
  14. A DH who can sort of play 1B, but yeah I was thinking the same.
  15. Fat Inept Prisoner of Rogers would have been more appropriate and cut a little deeper lol
  16. That was my initial assumption as well, really the only plausible conclusion. However, when the GM subsequently makes comments like "I would have declined Lind's option if he wasn't traded" it's very disconcerting.
  17. BTS' Dodgers logo really sold the ship-jumping possibility, it was the only reasonable conclusion really lol
  18. If this were an isolated incident it would be irrelevant; however, it's symptomatic of the much larger issue, the utter lack of direction of the FO. Anyone else prepared to follow a more compelling team next year? I'm seeing a lot of different team logo avatars.
  19. Almost as bad as Asian drivers...am I right?
  20. There are some troubling trends developing in this thread. Drawing parallels between the deaths of Nick Adenhart and Oscar Taveras is in poor taste. Nick Adenhart was a passenger in a vehicle struck by a drunk driver, unequivocally a victim. Oscar Taveras was the driver in a single-vehicle accident, which by all indications was due to reckless driving, he's responsible for his own death and that of the passenger, hardly a victim. Both situations are tragic, but the level of culpability couldn't be more different. Then to have a poster suggest that excessive speed (in poor conditions, no less) is not a factor in single-vehicle accidents, come on.
  21. Formal request to have thread title changed to "The Hive: Los Angeles" or something to that effect. Edit: Darrell does the Dodgers?
  22. Best glitch: BTS
  23. This thread would benefit from being supplemented by a QUAL+ update. Nominations for each category would also be a nice addition. Would individual threads need to be created for each category in order to utilize the poll function?
  24. Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez of SNY are excellent. I've been watching far more Mets than Jays games this summer, equally frustrating teams but one has infinitely less retarded commentators.
  25. http://i.imgur.com/tPa7uX3.png I've always suspected that Colby gets in own way with his constant, unnecessary adjustments.
