  1. Dumbass casual fans don't even know who Donaldson is. Just goes to show how awful the MLB's marketing has been since the steroid era came to an end.
  2. The same Beane who just panicked and traded Cespedes away for a Lester rental that didn't even give him the deep playoff run he was looking for?
  3. I love the trade. If you're going to spend prospects, Donaldson is the type of player you spend them on. If we had just signed Martin and called it a day with Boston improving, it wouldn't have been a very good offseason. This trade makes it a great offseason. As a harsh AA critic, I guess I'll be eating crow barring another catastrophic season like 2013.
  4. Oakland has a skinflint budget, that's why. Donaldson is a legit superstar, not like we were ever going to get him for free.
  5. If it makes you feel better, at least Donaldson is the type of player worth giving up a top prospect for, as opposed to the Marlins' and Mets' used trash.
  6. My jaw literally dropped at the news... holy crap!
  7. Poor comparison. We didn't just spend money that year, we spent prospects. And anyone who was paying attention knew that team was going to fail, so there was nothing to get excited about.
  8. Wish we'd "buy a team." Not like penny-pinching has won us anything in 21 years.
  9. With the news of Boston probably getting Lester in addition to Ramirez and Sandoval, yes, we should be rebuilding. Not like we'll be any higher than third place, as usual. The Martin signing looks more and more like a PR stunt ("Look! We actually signed a free agent! And he's Canadian!") than an actual commitment to spending and winning now that the Red Sox have opened up their wallet.
  10. This year's Sux, on paper, remind me of those Rangers teams with A-Rod. All hitting and garbage pitching. Not sure what the point was of signing Ramirez AND Sandoval.
  11. f***, I'm just glad that we're finally picking a direction for once even if it's not rebuilding. 21 years of limbo is just a waste of time.
  12. Simmons is a troll. If he's saying that, we'll probably sign Lester and Miller by tomorrow.
  13. Garbage management, 21+ years of losing, and ownership is unwilling to spend. That's the real reason... Canada and the turf are just excuses that AA and Beeston push to keep the heat off themselves.
  14. This team has been "on the verge" for the better part of the last 21 years only to continue to spin its wheels in mediocrity. At some point, we need to see results before giving the people in charge the benefit of the doubt. You mean like when he gutted it in order to bring in a bunch of overrated, overpaid veterans and still miss the playoffs? And people really trust him not to panic and do that again? Again, it's great and all that we have a good farm system again and money coming off the books. But when the franchise is still saddled with tightwad ownership, a dumbass team president, and a mediocre-at-best general manager, why exactly should we have blind faith that it's actually going to work out for us? If we had Theo in the front office and the Dodgers' ownership, then yeah, I'd understand the blind optimism.... but not with the current head honchos and their track record.
  15. The "doom and gloom" is brought on by bad trades, constant lying, and inaction on the part of the front office, as well as a total lack of accountability anywhere in the organization. Oh, and 21 years and counting of no playoffs. It's cool and all that the farm system is recovering nicely from those trades and that we have flexibility in the future, but can anyone really trust Rogers, Beeston and AA not to screw this up? I'd be a lot more optimistic with better ownership and competent people in charge.
  16. AA would just panic and trade them for other overpaid, overrated veterans and marginal prospects - if he even makes a move at all, which is doubtful no matter how far out of contention we are.
  17. Considering our recent history in trades, I'll wait and see if this Travis guy is any good before I get excited.
  18. PR purposes. When the offseason ends and AA has done nothing, he can point to those rumors, shrug his shoulders, and say "hey, we tried."
  19. It's not within AA's $0.00 budget, though.
  20. Big whoop. We've been waiting for one solitary playoff game for almost as long, let alone a World Series. Their incompetent manager is on the hot seat... ours has had two chances here despite nobody else wanting him, ironclad job security, and countless excuses. Not really seeing how their situation is worse than ours in any way.
  21. Wow, I'm so f***ing jealous of Dodger fans! Must be nice to have a franchise that gives two shits about winning. Meanwhile, we're stuck with the dumbest front office in the league.
  22. s***** coaching, isolation-driven offense in the era of ball movement, and bricked free throws... this is the team that's supposed to "numb the pain" of the Jays?
  23. LOL AA.... even Ruin Tomorrow Jr. is laughing at this imbecile! I've never seen someone get fleeced in literally every single trade and still have ironclad job security.
