  1. The problem with the Jays isn't a "lack of continuity," it's too much continuity for people who haven't earned it. Beeston should have been gone years ago, AA should have been fired after last year, and there was no reason to bring back Gibbons in the first place let alone keep him after last year. Yet they all keep their jobs regardless of the product on the field because Rogers is clueless, tonedeaf, and apathetic.
  2. Melky is gone next. We also won't sign anyone this offseason. AA will then once again trot out the money excuse when a.) he failed with an $130 million budget, and b.) nobody believes it because of how much money Rogers spent on NHL rights.
  3. Selig and Loria wouldn't be around to sabotage the franchise this time. Also, things have changed since the Montreal business community refused to support the team - pro sports is an even bigger cash cow now.
  4. Longest active playoff drought in the MLB, but hooray for mediocrity!
  5. Gotta love how Rogers doesn't have the balls to hold Beeston/AA accountable but can suddenly grow a pair when they feel like gouging the fans.
  6. It's also easier to swallow "going nowhere" when you were just in the World Series in 2008 as opposed to 21 straight years of no playoffs.
  7. "Going nowhere" on a $77 million budget > extending the playoff drought to 21 straight years on a $132 million budget while the idiots in charge have lifetime job security.
  8. The funny thing is that the Expos were Canada's real team. The Jays merely swooped in on some of the Expos' TV rights when they were accepted into the league, beginning the slow death of baseball in Montreal.
  9. Hopefully. I'd hop on the Expos 2.0 bandwagon so fast, the Jays' heads would spin.
  10. AA and Beeston are the reason people avoid Toronto... presumably Friedman would be replacing them. Otherwise, I don't see the problem with Toronto. Believe it or not, it's not the third-world shitdump the Jays and their sycophants portray it to be whenever free agency rolls around and they need an excuse.
  11. AA won't do jack s***, he'll be too busy pretending to go after relief pitchers while in reality scarfing down gyros and doing nothing.
  12. $5 billion for NHL rights and Rogers couldn't match LA's offer? I call ********. They just don't care about winning. AA is a nice puppet/yes-man who produces just enough mediocrity to skate by, and that's good enough for them. We could reach 40 years without making the playoffs and Rogers wouldn't care as long as suckers continue to buy merchandise/tickets and drink the Kool-Aid every year.
  13. Not really. The Rays could hire Jack Z or Ruin Tomorrow Jr. and the idiots in charge of this franchise would still find a way to finish below them in the standings.
  14. Meanwhile we're stuck with the Three Stooges. You're telling me Rogers can afford to spend $5 billion on NHL rights but they couldn't pry Friedman away from Tampa? Kudos to the Dodgers... yet another franchise that actually cares about winning and holds losers accountable. Must be nice. Wonder what that feels like.
  15. When you have terrible ownership that literally only cares about turning a profit, it's the only way you can send a message that the product that they're selling isn't good enough. God knows Rogers isn't going to take the initiative themselves to hold the Three Stooges accountable, that has officially been proven.
  16. I'm thinking the playoff-less streak will hit at least 30. None of the cronies will ever willingly leave and they won't be held accountable. I've been one to defend Rogers and still find the whining about money to be overblown, but it's undeniable now that they are terrible owners who couldn't care less about winning.
  17. Agreed. I've long thought Bautista was a whiny bitch, but hey, gotta give credit where credit's due - he ethered Simmons.
  18. I actually used to like him at first, but then just got sick of him. We get it, Bill, you're a starf***er who reads TMZ and you're an entitled Boston sports homer. Woe is you. Still, Steve Simmons is worse just because he's the designated troll columnist that every sports town seems to have.
  19. Incredibly, in a profession that includes Bill Simmons, Steve STILL manages to be the worst Simmons in sportswriting.
  20. While I agree we need a full housecleaning, including Gibbons, hiring another old loser is not the way to go. 6-21 playoff record... Marty Schottenheimer of baseball.
  21. I agree. One of the few things I like about AA is that he won't hand out contracts like the Pujols deal that everybody knows is horrible from day one. The problem is: a.) there's a happy medium between throwing a shitload of money at undeserving players and being deathly afraid to sign anybody at all, and b.) trading away assets for other teams' bad contracts has an even worse effect on your team than just overpaying free agents, but AA clearly doesn't realize that.
  22. Talk is cheap.... AA has shown no actual proof that he will budge from his idea that any free agent who won't sign a 1-year/$0 contract is "bad value." He spent last offseason making all sorts of promises and then did nothing to either improve the team or start to rebuild.
  23. Six combined World Series championships between them... man, I wish AA was as "incompetent" as Cashman and Cherington! At what point do the homers realize that we have zero room to scoff at how any other franchise in the division is run? We're the bottom bitch of the AL East and it's going to stay that way until we start seriously winning and making the playoffs on a regular basis.
  24. I'm hoping the Royals win it, but I'll take anyone besides the Cardinals, Nationals, or Tigers.
  25. Because AA's done so well with a top ten payroll?
