  1. Thrilled to have him back. Hope he is healthy and can inject some life at the top of the order and create some opps for JD et al to mash him in. Reyes is way overpaid vis a vis value but he can still be a valuable and exciting player.
  2. Yup. The Pompey part makes total sense but the addition by that much subtraction with an arm that is/could contribute wins this year doesn't. Maybe Castro does it. Hard to argue with Gomez production and the value in that contract - especially with the triage in our OF.
  3. Tough call and who knows. Our lineup has been decimated and his numbers since April 21st are productive. We haven't fared that well trying to have Reyes, Saunders or Jose play through injuries. They took a more cautious route on Travis. Could Stro start on crutches? nice win today. E-Rex = awesome and Sanchez getting it done.
  4. Seemed over the top at Glory to me...whatever. Was agreeing with you Cito's move re:Carter.
  5. That's f***ing good news. Aside from a great arm, I never thought Id miss Jose THIS much as an OF. Its thrown off our whole line up.
  6. Yup and f*** bargain prices...im sick of Rogers being half pregnant on this team since the payroll leap legacy of the MIA deal. Saunders just has that DL resume (the sprinkler head was freak). JD deal looks good. We had to sign Martin steep after the JPA-Navarro-Gomes trilogy played out not in our favour. Martin has been excellent. Travis may finally address our post Hill 2nd hole. IF we are trying to win while we still have Edwin and Jose under contract we cant keep going about it like we are. We needed more OF and arm depth. In AAs defense, Stro was a blow but injuries are just part of the game. Pompey is not playing his way back in Buff, but sending him down didn't make sense to me. Bosox are letting Betts play through his growth.
  7. Saunders went down from the sprinkler was when? Feb? Are you saying that he couldn't have made a move since then when we had a rookie CF (who they punted after 20 games - btw watching Betts struggle 40 games in but still there), Jose and Pillar? We were too thin after losing Melky, Gose and Rasmus. I already named Dejesus and others have mentioned others. When we lost Saunders again during the season after he played a handful of games where he clearly was hurt....hopefully AA was/is trying to make a move. I'm not sure who is available now with the season full on (much harder - agree). Look at our OF D now. Painful.
  8. Its appropriate to not infer that you are bright.
  9. LOL. Seriously...anger management would help. Carter one of the most over rated players we have ever had. WTF inferred if we had Jose Torre we would be leading the AL East now? That would be retarded. I have been watching the games since day 1. My point is a simple one: 1. Managers can add to win differential and get paid for it...2. Gibby is ok ....3. This year I think he has made some bad decisions that have contributed to losses...4. we have bigger issues than Gibby.
  10. lol...reminds me of Gabby on Blazing Saddles with "Authentic Frontier gibberish" It actually makes sense though...agree on Pompey. Was just brutal to bring the kid up...hand him a premium job and then duff him after 20 games looking at our OF D now. This has been a brutal skid. We can't be this bad...can we? The frustrating thing is we are finally pitching better.
  11. I know a lot of guys loved the Happ deal. Happ was supposed to pitch better in Seattle and Saunders was for 2 years and he was supposed to hit more at Rogers. Makes sense. But before the sprinkler Saunders was a chandelier with a .680 OPS. After the sprinkler not making a move was dumb. Given we had a rookie in CF they gave 20 games and Pillar.
  12. Agree. Pillar is a good 4th OF asset. I just think Saunders is over rated.
  13. I didn't want to sign Melky on 4 year either. I mentioned him and Gose (happy with Travis) because lost a lot of depth along with Rasmus and I think when Saunders went down in the spring we should backfilled Saunders from a fairly long list of decent MLB talent available. I doubt TB would let Dejesus go now, as one example, but it was rumoured he was on the available in the spring.
  14. Of course they didn't know what they would both become...that's not my point. My point was they took a risk in signing long term undermarket deals after one great season. That was not by accident. Props due.
  15. Name the last 2 full time established successful MLB non arm talent players OUR system has developed in the last 5 years...
  16. Kicking the crap out of AA is fair ball but he doesn't get enough credit for Jose and Edwin. Edwin was f***ing DFAed and we ALL hated him in the "E5" era. After 1.5 good years AA signed him to a long term deal. He did the same with Jose after one good year. That took balls and vision. Overall they have been excellent deals. It didn't happen by accident.
  17. Clearly...but oh that Pillar is "just a ball player. he is a winner". IMO Saunders is/was very over rated even before latest injury. We gave a rookie a 20 game probation in a critical position before dumping him...Jose hurt his arm and now we are completely f***ed. AA should have been backfilling with some credible above replacement level talent when Saunders went down or even when he came back the 1st time. It was obvious he wasn't right. This season is 2013 level painful. Who needs Melky or Gose? I keep waiting for Gose regression at the plate...putting up 1.4 WAR.
  18. Fair. I didn't expect us to pitch THIS badly and if our SP could pitch to their career averages we probably would have 4-5 more wins by now. I have some hope its coming around. This has been a rough stretch.
  19. LOL...hey, I didn't say Showalter or Madden or Torre or Cito for that matter were great. I just pointed out they are paid extremely well because someone in a front office thought they added positively to win differential. I also believe that there is some correlation to a managers ability and win differential. You seem to subscribe to the notion that they are pretty much chimps who fill out line up cards. Basically they are a wash that are either lucky as a result of a good roster or not lucky if they aren't. "Right place and right time".
  20. meh. ok. I look at his entire body of work for us. Normally I have few issues with him but some of his pen mgm and choices this year have made a difference imo. Some "experts" picked the Jays to be in the post season this year. I didn't really expect it after we lost Stro, with our pen and lack of depth.
