  1. Fair. Agree. We needed that to begin the season...but ill take it now too. This pen is coming around but its still given me too many Co-Co Cordero flashbacks this year.
  2. Yup. He ain't what he used to be on the triples front. Nobody is disputing that.
  3. So f***ing done with it...LOCK PLEASE so I stop looking!(its like a nascar crash...can't look away).... legit criticism and debate is fine but the Gibby and Reyes hate over reaction is actually turning me into liking and defending them more.
  4. Agree. Im interested in the LF and 2nd discussion on him (not for the Jays) but he is still a force when in the line up. OPS isn't a great stat for a comparison with OF Pillar anyway....a SS hacker speed guy like him who relies on extra base power.
  5. I like Reyes overall...just not his deal or his D. Who would? But this argument doesn't apply well to him. With his sub avg D and cost we have to get more from him offensively. Im convinced we will in 2015 and he is coming around, but his wRC+ so far isn't acceptable vis a vis his negatives. Having said that he is all we have and he will do.
  6. Cecil will get his high leverage opps if we can get on a roll. Reyes is hitting better. Jose is back in RF. If Edwin gets healthy with Smoak @ 1st and Travis at 2nd Im feeling a lot better about this team.
  7. Amen. Norris is walking guys like crazy in Buff but I still think he will be a mid rotation guy. Cecil has really come on since hurt in Spring. His last appearance he touched 95 and had good command of his curve. He will be ok.
  8. Buerhle is overpaid but when you can put up innings like he has for over a decade with the kind of mid rotation consistent production be brings...you get paid big.
  9. Reyes is still a productive player...his deal sucks...but he can still be a 3+ WAR. Imagine being the LAA fans saddled with Hamilton and Pujols (having a decent yr but 6 more left) deals surrounding a stud like Trout.
  10. He can be painful to listen to but some of his comments were fair...if not obvious. Reyes rebuttal was pretty classy. Being aggressive is one thing I like about Reyes...trying to stretch 3rd with 2 out and lumber on deck just isn't that smart. But I've never been upset with Reye's personality. I like it. He actually plays pretty fired up and is showing signs of coming around at the plate now that he is healthy.
  11. He does always seem like a good guy. I doubt its true.
  12. Awesome win. Aside from a couple Reyes bobbles great all round game. What a terrific start. Vintage Mark B at his best. Nice to see Jose jack one - been awhile. Smoak at 1st just sures up the D and gives us some LHH pop.
  13. Worth trying. Delabar and many others have gone through same sort of thing. Change of scenery might help. He was a stud.
  14. Reyes duffs one and then pulls Goins off bag on DP. Lucky to get out that one. Now back on the sticks.
  15. A lot of guys think Reyes optimum position is SS with his + arm. I agree that if Goins must play we are better with Goins @ SS and Reyes @ 2nd. Reyes strong arm is erratic when he doesn't plant negating that +, and more balls on avg are hit to the right side. That arm isn't going to help him when he can't get to the ball. Having said that, the drama isn't worth the short term move while we wait for Travis.
  16. This thread hurts my head. I think sometimes in any business organization a shake up is needed when the org isn't performing. It isn't always fair. Happens all the time in business. This roster makes him a victim of circumstance somewhat. Gibby has made some poor decisions this season but he isn't this Jays team issue. I think of him as replacement level. Kind of a wash. Im thankful he isn't Cito or Buck Martinez.
  17. Yup...we all would like him to be more but that dog ain't gonna hunt. Seems like we have been watching Pillar and Goins a long time now...a long time.
  18. Edwins issue is what plagued him before he became E-Rex midway through 2011. He he swinging at balls away off the plate much more so his K rate is a lot higher. I also think his legs and back are not quite right. Maybe its affecting him at plate as well. Its a bit disturbing at his age if playing 1st is that hard on him. Shouldn't be. They are going to keep going out there off the plate until he lays off again. The guy has the potential in one month to put up crooked numbers and bring all his stats up to norm while carrying the offense. Lets hope he gets going.
  19. happily eating my words in predicting Pillar would be owned in 2nd game. Cecil was lights out touching 95 and dropping that hammer. Great sign. Nice job Jays!
  20. no imo, guy already had to learn a new pos and why mess with a good thing. 3rd and SS are so different. He has been our most stable player on O and D.
  21. ...that's funny. you beat me to it. Norris is walking people like crazy in AAA. Its too bad.
  22. He doesn't really have a choice...its just the drama and chaos that his resistance would cause. I can't imagine he would refuse to play...sit out...and forego the $.
  23. lol...having to watch that is far more cruel that Pillar vs Scherzer
  24. Reyes is frustrating - paid too much vis a vis value - a chandelier - sub par on D - terrible BB ratio right now - prone to brain dead decisions on base paths. But at this point for the Jays now he is our best current option as SS and he can still be a dominant offensive force for periods of time when he gets rolling. This commentary should go in the anger/rage vent thread imo. He just isn't THAT bad.
  25. Wilner said that yesterday on "the ego thing" with Reyes not moving until he wants to. He brought up Jeter. We are not the NYY when they were winning WS where he earned he a lot of his deity reputation and Reyes is not f***ing Jeter...not even close. The guy can be an electric player and an asset, but at this point the only thing very big about his game is his salary.
