  1. He admits he is swinging at too many pitches off the plate, and with 2 strikes he is constantly getting pitched there. He used to do this all the time as "E-5". Since then he seems to periodically do this in a slump until he lays off...gets hot when they have to come in...and he goes on a rampage.
  2. I don't want Gibbys head but how can you argue a Manager doesn't contribute to wins and losses and that its only a function of the roster and filling out a line up card? Why would Showwalter, Madden etc etc make what they do if it has nothing to do with win differential?
  3. That was a big win. RA being RA chewing up innings and putting up mediocre but improved numbers and E-Rex crushing one. Solid contributions from the Toronto Blue Bisons at the bottom of the order. Really looking forward to seeing Reyes, Martin and Travis back in the line up. Nice job!
  4. Agree. I wasn't referencing his AAA shtick in response. But rather making him your starting CF and then heave hoing him after such a short stint.
  5. Props to Pillar's D but his offense has fallen off a massive cliff as most expected. Never understood the Pompey 20 game probation.
  6. Aside from the massive trade overpay he has been decent value for salary (sans this year so far) given the stupid numbers being paid for FA starters. I cant stand watching him pitch but we do need to look at the option.
  7. That's like saying Edwin expects to hit 3 taters today because he hit 10 out in BP.
  8. Yup...really not fun. Like first 6 weeks of 2013 un-fun
  9. Im no Gibby basher and I don't see hammering him as the be all end all but there is a reason some managers make the big money and some don't. Some last and some don't. Saying Gibby doesn't bare some responsibility is like saying Babcock had little to do with the Red Wings performance because all he had to do was play what he had for a roster. Sometimes changing the manager is a good move, and not just a knee jerk scapegoat play. This team has a lot of issues. I don't see Gibby as the biggest problem by far.
  10. I thought same but his numbers since April 21st are too good to DL him given our already decimated line up. I take it at face value that swinging isn't further exacerbating the injury. I was talking to Shi Dividi in a line up for a burger at Minute Maid in Houston over the weekend and he said Jose still can't lift his arm much higher than his shoulders. Brutal.
  11. ....hey no prob. Lets bring back Henry Blanco while we are at it.
  12. AJ should fit right in. He is putting up a whopping .445 OPS in 92 PAs in Buff.
  13. I get that Martin needs to have days of rest. He is catching a lot of games and is probably banged up. But I just don't think we have luxury with this line up to sit him in the midst of this skid, even with RA on the rubber. When Reyes and Travis are back next week it makes more sense.
  14. I'm a die hard but I cant bring myself to watch this one on a nice night in Calgary. 4-9 is soooo Bisonish. The outcome so far this season was pretty predictable, although I didn't expect our rotation to be as bad as they have been. The pen and lack of depth to play well through injuries is no surprise. RA is due for a decent start. GO Jays!
  15. Edwin's and Jose's deal are abut the 2 best moves AA has made. He took risks and they have been great value. They lose Mark B, RA (no option pick up), Romero and Navarro $ next year. Martins $ increases. They would love to dump Reyes, but we have no viable replacement if we don't get someone younger coming back, and we would have to eat some of the $. 3.2 WAR last year was his best since 2011 and before that 2008. He is way too expensive for the value. They will pray Hutch, Stro, Sanchez and Norris produce and maybe add a FA SP and some pen depth (please GOD!). Hoffman cant be counted on in 2016. Trading Edwin and/or Jose is all about what comes back in a win now or if we go into yet another rebuild. I don't see enough coming back to offset the loss if we are playing to win this year or next.
  16. He really is. Love the kid. + glove...he just cannot f***ing hit to save his life...or his job. His ABs are mostly painful to watch.
  17. Id love to give Martin more days off but with our 5-9 a AAA line up and our ERA at the top of the league (the wrong top) we don't have a ton of luxury to sit him right now unfortunately. We are in danger of being irrelevant early.
  18. We handled Pompey in a bizarre fashion handing him the CF job and a 20 game probation period. I liked what I saw.
  19. colla==== is 2015 Juan Fransciso. Regression overload
  20. And we all know that no GM in any sport has ever traded a player (s) after saying something like that...
  21. Fair point but not necessarily. A team can be in "win now" but it depends on if they have more quality pitching (and prospects) than they need now and not enough offense (and they think they can maybe resign beyond end 2016). I don't know who that team is now. I don't think they exist. Our Jays teams that won definitely weren't built around stud pitching.
  22. Agree. That's THE issue. We made some "win now" moves but I don't see any "win now" pieces coming back off setting the loss (es). Rogers stopped short on a win now payroll for the team (after some choices were made that cost them a lot - $55+mm for Reyes, RA and Mark to add arms (if they would have come) and we are now half pregnant.
  23. That's a logical piece although I cant see Edwin in the OF at all. He has been babying his hamstring all season running nothing out after missing the last part of 2014. I just don't see the rush even with the Edwin 10-5 issue. Jose's injury and their production being down negates some value. They aren't out of it although lately it seems rather hopeless. On the flip side it depends what comes back for arm(s) to do it now. I agree with him that I don't see them resigning them...the FA market premium is just too $ and hard for them to pass up. Which is why we let Melky go and had to pay so much for Martin. Not that 2 year extensions would be a bad idea at all. Agree with Spanky the PR spin would be a challenge dealing them - but its doable for the right deal and if it shows up positively in the results. AA's last big gamble. I don't see it as impossible.
  24. I don't dispute that there is likely some correlation, but there are other factors including Rogers Centre, AL, command, age (maybe) etc. Bottom line is I don't think he will continue to be this bad all season despite his age.
