It was a good AB. Still would rather have Pompey up and Saunders rehabbing more in AAA. He still doesn't look right at plate or in field.

Time for the NL to adopt DH....protects the pitchers more and is more entertaining and consistent Great play by EE and Hutch - get every out and keep that pitch count down

I don't get that as justification for inaction. That's Rogers choice. This is a business but as a fan its still fair to question the commitment to putting a winning team on the field. I understand that our payroll now should be enough with the right players on the roster - but it isn't/hasn't and while we will lose Mark B and RA contracts (400 IP/year we need to replace) after this year, the end of next we lose huge value deals on Jose and Edwin. I'm not seeing the clear direction of mgm/ownership. Reyes (DL) and MB from MIA deal - $42mm this season. Rough start for value this season on that. Win over Kluber was great to see.

Some have judged Pillar's ceiling pretty quickly. I understand why to some extent given his lack of plate discipline. Its odd given late bloomers like Josh Donaldson, E-Rex and Jose form the heart of our order.

Virtually the same principal applies for hitters. "Streaky" and "clutch" hitter adjectives are over rated.

We went into season with 3 number 3's and a couple of rookies. With our offense we had enough to win AL East with Stroman imo. Now I don't see us getting it done unless Sanchez and Norris really blossom under the pressure. Possible. The pen is a whole other issue. Stro may have emerged a 1-2 guy this year but with only 20 starts in MLB who knows. When he started mixing in that sinker he was filthy. Every team is going through some of this now though. We all have holes and ifs. Still anyones division.

Been a Jays fan since Day 1 and always will be. I don't consider myself a knee jerk fan looking for the noose every time we lose, but acceptance of mediocrity in filling obvious major holes and expecting a different overall result, grows so tiresome. Not dissing our young/old arms and we have some good ones, but this bullpen result has been entirely predictable. Gotta blow once in awhile. Gibby sac bunting in the 4th in Fenway makes me irrational! Its early in the season but these games also count in Sept and I see the AL bit stronger overall this year.

Took my kid to little league and then melted down watching the rest of the game on PVR after. Sooooo glad Gibby was sac bunting to pad that massive lead in the 4th now. (insert further sarcasm). We all knew the pen was weak....mgm knew the pen was weak....and guess what?...the pen is weak. shock-er...the Spring means little. A f***ing crapshoot. Never a truer phrase was said. These games will really hurt if we have a sniff in Sept. Although with a retooled Bosox team I think 2014 was our shot.
