  1. ...so the difference between 2013 RA and 2015 so far is age and 1.2 to 1.5MPH on the KN?
  2. Velocity has little to do with the knuckle ball and if you look at Buehrle's charts, his V isn't much changed. The guy never relied on V. The guy throws goo. One of these years age and wear and tear will be a factor for sure, but even still I don't expect this much regression this season. Don't get me wrong...I thought our pitching WITH Stro might be enough. I am just saying I think these guys will improve over the season (not a very high bar). If you look at the rotations we are competing with nobody has awesome depth 1-5 in their rotation. Sanchez is an enigma. If he keeps up walking people at this rate its going to end very badly. A chimp can figure that out.
  3. Ya, I know. Lets see if he can sustain the improvement. He put up some seriously poor numbers to start the year. Hope he can. Just took my 6 year old to Houston from Calgary to watch us get swept Fri-Sun. Wasn't pretty although Hutch did a pretty good job Thurs night.
  4. Look....RA and Mark B haven't been front end rotation studs, but they haven't been THIS bad over the last few years. Beurhle is starting to pitch better. He started off horribly in 2013 too. Hutch is capable of better. What can we expect from Estrada and Sanchez is the issue(s) imo. I also think our pen has the talent to pitch better.
  5. Honestly, Loup isn't that bad. His numbers are serviceable. He is prone, like a lot of middle relievers, to more than his share of occasional melt downs. I just don't understand why, after he gives up a soft hit to a LHH we don't go the RHP to face Carter...who is struggling. I know Gibbys thinking on it but I don't agree. In any case after he walks Carter its just clear its one of those nights for Loup and give em the hook.
  6. Yup...Wilner "in disguise". Not a sniff of the post season since 93 and will go to grave insisting we are absolutely on the right track despite flip flopping approaches on building the team every 3/4 years. "Depth"?!
  7. Taking my 7 year old son to HOU from Calgary for 3 games tomorrow....came home from the office and we are up 3-1.....excited. Happy Happy Happy The Gibby leaves LOUP in long enough to destroy it all. After he doesn't get the LHH who got the broken bat duff he has to be out. Better options to face Carter. I don't get it. BRUTAL
  8. um...ok...is this Wilner?
  9. What he said...that was some serious rationalizing to feel good about where we sit. I do think we are fortunate to be where we are the way we have pitched but its not depth that has kept us treading water. The question is will we stay/get healthy enough to make a run. Sadly, without adding some arm talent I'm not very optimistic. BTW HTF did we fail to see anything in Jesse Chavez? I am traumatized by the fact Im missing Happ at this point.
  10. $3mm replacement level scrub at this point...been that way since 2011. Don't care anymore. There are cheaper options for filler.
  11. Good move to put him back in the pen where he had some success in a small sample size. The debate this off season was that they wanted that plus arm to get more IP as a starter rather than waste him as a reliever. Some people expected the minor league command issues to magically evaporate. I didn't. Try him back in the pen and if he cant make it he can go back to BUFF.
  12. ...never heard that before. A couple of TJs...a couple with inability to resolve command issues or they go full Romero. Maybe an ACL....So many things can happen. There is no messiah cometh. (and if there was the Mets already have him). We have what we have now with 2 big offensive pieces coming to their end of their contract next year. Now is the time.
  13. holy f***....if the Jays were playing like the Benny Hill show O's I would be losing my mind. Pour it on
  14. Edwin just has such awesome raw power....what a beautiful swing on the outside pitch staying on it.
  15. LOL....its nauseating the way they fill air with empty platitudes.
  16. That's true. As long as its doing nothing to exacerbate the issue. Atta boy JD! Nice job
  17. I saw the swing replays and the catches yup....and I'm thinking healthy Jose and those are gone. You think he is fine? Awesome.
  18. LOVE to see the E-REX smash to RF. That's a scary sign for AL
  19. After today Im thinking they finally DL him. His numbers have been good as DH but the pop isn't there he normally has.
  20. Goins, Tolleson and Carerra is frightening. I would rather have a struggling Travis against RHP that Tolleson against RHP.
  21. Maybe in A ball...."back on track"? It never has been on track. that show is bizarre sometimes.
  22. Saunders has been lights out too...at the plate. I see the logic for both teams on that deal though and Happ is bound to have better numbers in that park. Hasn't worked out yet for us. Conversely, we expected Saunders to have better numbers in our park. I just think Saunders is over-rated even before this off seasons injury. Not much above replacement level (best yr just over 2) and another chandelier, much like Lawrie, throughout his career.
  23. AL East is still anyones. I just don't think our pitching is good enough sans Stro. The notion that we just need to hold until miraculously everyone is healthy at the same time to make a push is folly. The O's ran away with it last year without Machado and Wieters. Injuries are just part of the game. So far we aren't getting it done on the mound and even with our offense its not going to be enough over a long season.
