  1. Although someone might/will I don't know how anyone could argue that. (not that I think Goins is even replacement level). I get that the arm goes to SS, but in this case I favour Reyes on the side with the lesser number of balls hit that way on avg.
  2. Its an interesting discussion. Despite his issues at SS a lot of posters see it as his optimum position (on any team) given his + arm strength. His strong arm is erratic with the release he uses if he doesn't plant. We don't have a replacement for him @ SS and he would resist a move to 2nd (we all hope Travis sticks regardless) or LF. Agree with you on LF...every time he runs I cringe that he might do down.
  3. lol. Stupid point. You can say that about any deal if it goes well or not and we debate the s*** out of them. That's what we do. Yes, it happens they misjudge. The Jays do it a lot. It happened with Edwin and Jose B in our favour. Mgm is judged in large part by how they evaluate talent so our f***ing lists are pointless, cause we play fantasy league. Admittedly I didn't see it in Gomes in a small sample size. Ideally they should have.
  4. "moot" And I don't think its impossible to get a serviceable option coming back or in another deal. A couple of names have been mentioned. Few, if any, expected JD and/or Martin to be on the Jays 2015 roster. Nobody expected VW to move. you think ideally @ 2b. Hardly a universal view that's his optimum pos.
  5. GFY. Gomes deal still bugs me. Set off a chain reaction that forced us to sign Martin...and carry Navarro for big money, which cost us pitching options and OF depth we need.
  6. This has nothing to do with what I was discussing...my question was assuming he would be moved. And its far from impossible depending on position and amount of salary we eat. At this point its not likely given we have no alternative to play SS.
  7. Mousaka...spanikopita....meh Ya, falafels is funnier.
  8. So agree. The Rock liked the Rock but he was an elite player for a very long time. I remember the excitement watching him come up with Expos. Was awesome.
  9. Beats trading Aviles and Gomes for a mediocre reliever...
  10. Falafels? He is greek....does he have a penchant for Middle Eastern food?
  11. hmmm....So if more hitters are RH...and you have 2 equal fielders except for arm and range...you put the arm @ SS and range @ 2nd. (JFaS) Yet more balls will be hit to left side. The arm doesn't help a lot if the range doesn't get you to balls. On the other hand I guess you have a better chance of making plays that you do get to with the arm.
  12. With a f***ed up shoulder his OPS is around .850 Jose just gets taken for granted too much.
  13. He isn't going to square every ball up!
  14. HIs RHH ABs all season have just been horrendous. I don't think he swung at a strike. Goins and Pillar are one thing but a vet @22mm has to be better.
  15. These last 3 ABs has been a veritable collage of fugly swings.
  16. Its called lack of depth. Pillar is decent 4th OF and D replacement. Goins is a glove who doesn't hit enough to be in MLB.
  17. Normally I hate f***ing bunts but this is the inning and that's the guy to do it if you are going to. Well executed.
  18. great read on Collabello hit Martin.
  19. That would be a brain dead fuking strategy with E-Rex even if he does hit into a DP
  20. lol....still pretty quick. not what he used to be but after all the injuries and age no surprise.
  21. He is such a hacker but his BB rate used to be higher.
  22. He has been incredible...after watching JPA and Navarro.
  23. It does happen...just not enough alas.
  24. agree with all of that. Keep hoping AA can backfill with reasonable SS option and pull a VW Version 2.0 like he did with Angels. I like Reyes. Just not at SS and he is too $. $44mm more after 2015 with the pitching vacuum we have just seems wrong.
