  1. Thank you Sheriffinator. Without your stalwart interventions the Board would have spiraled into perpetual decay. The term "randomness" has forever become part of the minute by minute vernacular in the discourse, and will become synonymous for eternity with the Jays 2023 two game playoff run. You have done a great service.
  2. Ben Ennis and JD Bunkis talking about the presser yesterday referring to Ross Atkins as Shapiro's "Reek". Game of Thrones reference. Its sports talk radio - pretty funny and cruel sometimes.
  3. "It seems". But HOU has made the ALCS 7 years in a row cycling out core parts Correa, Cole and Springer. They just replaced them with the likes of Pena and Tucker; acquiring and then extending Alvarez etc.
  4. David Sampson was funny on Blair and Barker a couple days ago. In the context of Moreno in AZ, he said Execs 100% watch players they traded and hope they do ok but not well - and then they lie about that. He said he did for certain. Shatkins breathing sigh of relief ATL mega team flops in playoffs for sure lol See! RANDOMNESS! Just get in!
  5. It’s f***ing hard to win the World Series. Congratulations to the giant killing mashers on the Phillies. Im envious.
  6. You have to appreciate the abject randomness of Albies batting stance.
  7. Never have liked Kimbrel. Hope he gives it up.
  8. That’s my point. Agree on EOS. All comes out in the wash. But production is not linear. Bat could have gotten colder or hotter for the extrapolated period. Anyway. Not a big deal.
  9. 2-1 Phillies. All bombs. Pressure heavy on ATL now. The home run impact is one of the main stories so far of the post season.
  10. Didn’t care for Bo running through stop sign in Game 1 either, but it’s less egregious. It’s a shame the Berrios decision took away from 1 run in 18 innings produced and Vlad’s inexcusable f*** up.
  11. Pro rating WAR assumes linear production no? That’s risky in baseball. Look at Bo’s 2022 or Chappy’s 2023.
  12. Nothing egregious. I didn’t mean it that way. Just funny to look back on timing and numbers terms predicted. Maybe not?
  13. Bump. Some of the takes in this thread are pretty funny now. The decisions for these 2 are in the windshield. You can play them out 2 years but that also has risks. ATL, LAD and HOU are all top orgs that let Swanson, Seagar and Correa go. They are still upper echelon teams. BoSox let Xander go to a SDP over pay. We should not need these 2 to be a sustainable winner? Or do we? - Almost 26. Bo was a 100 bat in '22 until the last 5 weeks (pulled a reverse Chapman who was hot the first 5 weeks of '23). 5.1 to 4.5 to 3.8 WAR the last three years. Declining BsR value. Sprint speed down from 80th to 40th percentile. Elite bat to ball skills with low BB and high chase. Swings at everything. Adequate but not a long term option at SS - bottom 3rd defensively. 2/22.4M contract. - 24. Vlad xwOBA .374 in '23. 1 WAR. Declining defense. 91st percentile Avg EV. So much has been said. $14.5M AAV going up. I'm not keen on a mega deal for either or letting them go for nothing. Depending on where we are at this deadline they could be on the move. I'd be fine with some team friendly extensions but these guys value themselves highly. I don't see that happening.
  14. Love to see some math on this if it exists. In hockey a hot goalie (1 player) can have a big impact on the outcome of a game.
  15. Fair. There is randomness to all sports playoffs. Its not just unique to baseball. The Astros are 7 consecutive years in the ALCS. Thats not random. AZ's talent is benefitting from short series, being hot at the right time and running into opponents with major pitching challenges. Thats pretty random & good luck.
  16. I'm ok on todays presser. Accountability very firmly on Shatkins now where I think it should be. They are smart guys. They will either figure it out or not, but the stakes for 2024 go up for the team - results, fandom attendance and TV eyeballs. Use of renovated stadium etc. Not what I want, but I thought it was less than 40% chance Mark did anything today. That was high.
  17. Ok. Well that makes sense then lol. Enough kumbaya.
  18. I don't know whats going on. This Board has always had flare ups in the decade I've been around but its degraded into warring camps of Jays fans firing condescending s*** back and forth. To the extent I've joined in, I'm going to back off that behaviour. At the end of the day bunch of hard core baseball and Jays fans on here with differing opinions on some topics. Because its online it shouldn't just be a snark and one up fest IMO.
  19. Betts on sweep by AZ: "I did absolutely nothing to help us win". It was hard to like the guy when he was with BoSox but I have so much respect for the kind of player & guy he is. He owns it all 100%. Straight to the HOF first ballot.
  20. Didn't want Atkins to go after 20, 21 or 22. Was good for him to go after '23 but a bit on the fence about it. That presser pushed me deep into the camp of that he has to go RFN, as the whole culture of accountability is a mess. It exposed what I suspected, but just didn't know for certain was the case. Mark needs to make a statement this morning. At the end of the day he is ultimately accountable to ownership.
  21. Luckily for AZ they are up 4-0 from 4 bombs so they don’t really care that much.
  22. Moreno. First ballot hall of famer. Book it. lol.
  23. 7th consecutive trip to the ALCS for HOU. Awesome run. Wow.
  24. You can’t disagree with this. You want to skip the wildcard if possible and have the highest probability of a winning result in the subsequent series. Houston was the best team last year and got it done. Doesn’t always happen in every sport. My Bruins last year hero to zero when the puck dropped in the playoffs. LAD ATL on the brink. BAL gone. 100 wins and history for ‘23.
  25. Abreu had the exact same 86 wRC+ as Varsho in ‘23. 3 HRs in last 2 games. Playoffs.
