If we really are All In and committed to this whole "competitive window" crap, the obvious moves would have been to throw money at Ruiz, Infante and Garza. Entice them with above-market dollars per year for reduced contract length, there's the extra wins we need to get to around 91. The notion that the extra 50M or so needed for those three guys wouldn't pay off from an across-the-board increase in team-related revenues if the club was actually competitive seems ludicrous to me. The worst part about the whole All In crap that toupee fetishist tried to sell is that we're not even going balls-out. We've thrown away half the farm, yet we're suddenly going to start pretending that Bogers can't afford an extra 50-75M in payroll when they would reap much more in reward were this team to actually make the playoffs or at least come close?

Man, we and 28 other fanbases out there right now are pissed that it wasn't our GM on the other end of the line with Dombrowski when the Fister Incident occurred. Imagine if AA somehow managed to get Fister and Porcello for a couple of our Ace Relievers and some of our non-SanchezStroman prospects..............we might have been finally able to weather the annual injury epidemic on the mound.

For me, he's one of those youngish players who've shown something over their first couple of years that I have a semi-irrational boner over for no particular reason. I'd love to see him manning 2nd for us next season as a buy-low reclamation project.

Can anyone fathom why exactly they did this? I'm struggling to come up with a single logical possibility for them wanting a guy like this, at a price like this, at this point in their bottoming-out/accumulating young assets stage of rebuilding. Unless they turn around and flip him at the deadline for young/cheap/upside like they've done with everyone else on their roster above the age of 28. IF that's what they're going to do, I like it. Basically just buying prospects, if that's what they end up doing. For any other reason, this would be a horrible/nonsensical signing. -
