.050 xBA on the Verdugo hit that drove in Hernandez.
Meanwhile, Teoscar was put out on a .430 xBA earlier and Semien was put out on a .580 xBA.
Clown ballpark.
Knew it. Was only a matter of time before failing to throw guys out at first would come back to bite them.
Three times already today they let a guy get away scott-free at first.
Gurriel is atrocious in the field by the way.
Could be that he's just s***. Could be that someone clued him into the investigation and he stopped immediately.
Need to see the spin rate data to be sure and I'm too much of a noob at Baseball Savant to figure that out.
Sports Illustrated today released an incredibly damning exposé using first hand confessions and text message receipts to name several prominent players and personalities in baseball in the "sticky substance" scandal.
You can read the full article here: https://www.si.com/mlb/2021/06/14/sticky-stuff-bubba-harkins-speaking-out-daily-cover[/url]
I've included some relevant snippets below.
Gerrit Cole:
Troy Percival:
Justin Verlander:
Joba Chamberlain and Corey Kluber
Max Scherzer and Edwin Jackson:
Tyler Chatwood:
Adam Wainwright:
Andrew Bailey:
Did anyone actually read this? I hadn't taken a look yet but holy s***, this is a pretty f***ing major exposé with a ton of receipts.
Haven't looked at the spin rates but maybe this is why Chatwood is s*** now.
Looking at it again, the most surprising thing for me from the above graphic is actually that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has 10 less plate appearances than Marcus Semien in a span of just 39 games, despite batting just two spots lower in the order. That's more than two games worth of PA's in a quarter of a season.
This is why I badly want Vlad at #2.
1 | Springer
2 | Vlad
3 | Semien
4 | Teoscar
5 | Bichette
6 | Kirk
7 | Grichuk
8 | Gurriel
9 | Biggio
He's definitely an idiot if he hasn't gotten it, but do we know for sure that he hasn't? Half the Yankees team caught COVID and Nevin nearly died from it even though they were all fully vaccinated beforehand.
I haven't looked into the analytics for this at all but I refuse to believe that the base-clogging theory isn't just the dumbest thing ever.
If a fast runner can score from first, a slow runner can probably score from second. I don't see how a slow guy would be in the way.
I'm personally not okay with just splitting the next four games. I want the Jays to finish the job against the Red Sox today and then go into Buffalo looking for a sweep of the Yankees. New York isn't nearly as good as the standings show. They just fielded a lineup yesterday where the highest OPS was the .741 of Gary Sanchez. And they were in the National League where they could pinch hit.
They've had an absolutely brutal time scoring runs and the Jays should absolutely be looking for a series sweep here, with a 2-1 win as the least acceptable scenario.
If you have a smart and analytical manager, it doesn't matter if his bench coach is a moron. You can easily just have a glue guy in that spot.
But I don't know if I've ever heard of a manager taking a demotion to bench coach and I doubt Charlie would accept that. It's like AA not wanting to play second fiddle to Shapiro.
I just want to see him removed from the manager position. I don't mind them offering him a bench coach role. I'm certain he'd say no but I'd be okay with it if he did say yes.
lol I just noticed part of this and came here to post.
Among the Top 30 position players by WAR, Vladdy is among just four guys without a BABIP higher than his batting average.
