  1. This was great. I'm not a fan of Bauer but he was pretty well-spoken here and really did a good job of outlining all the flaws in this patchwork system. After watching that video I do lean more towards the players' side in that this wasn't done right and probably should have waited.
  2. Sounds like they're already in the process of it. From the ESPN article linked on the previous page: MLB has previously worked with Rawlings on a tackier baseball in an effort to curb the use of foreign substances but didn't get enough approval from players to incorporate any of the prototypes into regular-season games. Instead, a source familiar with the league's thinking told ESPN that MLB is in the early stages of working to create a new, stickier substance to rub each baseball with before games. That new substance would replace the mud that has been incorporated across eight decades but tends to get chalky after a certain period of time, prompting players to argue that they need foreign substances to properly grip game-used balls. The absence of that new rubbing substance for 2021 means baseball will focus more on identifying egregious offenders and also collect information about the types of substances that are being utilized.
  3. If anyone should be fined or punished over this ABSOLUTE SCANDAL it should be every team the Rangers faced at home in 2017. How the f*** did you not notice Adrian Beltre's naked friend waving around his tank top in dead center in this ballpark? I guess they must have missed him camped out on the grassy knoll or dancing on the rafters. If this is true and Beltre actually got away with it, he deserved every extra hit he came up with.
  4. - The Royals were the first team with a full analytics and video department close by their dugout, doing so in 2015, their World Series Championship year. How they used it, I do not know. - This one hurts to say... my favorite player ever... "Chase Utley was the biggest cheater of all-time." - As insane as this sounds, I've heard this from multiple players, Adrian Beltre had a buddy with binoculars in dead center who would wave a beater (undershirt) if he was getting something off speed in 2017. I'm laughing my ass off at some of these "accusations." If I ever tweeted out unsubstantiated garbage like this, my outlet would fire me within the hour.
  5. As hot as Bo has been lately, there's just no justification to not having Vladdy batting #2 in the order. There are so many opportunities where that spot in the line-up comes up with 2 or 3 people on and 2 outs and you have the best bat on the planet and you're not using him.
  6. LOL! You bring Biggio in off the bench and you put him on the basepaths instead of as a pinch-hitter for Adams.
  7. And Romano is one of the worst guys in the majors at holding runners on so, naturally, it was a great idea to bring him in with a guy on first.
  8. lol Mayza was his best pitcher after Ryu today and all it took for him to pull him was the other guys bringing in a pinch-hitter.
  9. Perfect reenactment of yesterday. Vladdy and Teoscar get on late in the game with singles, Grichuk quickly grounds into a double play.
  10. Well this game tells you it probably wouldn't have made much a difference if Montoyo brought in this gimp instead of Dolis yesterday. Embarrassment of a pen.
  11. For all the s*** Boone gets as a manager, at least he knows to bat his best guy 2nd in the order. One of the many things I loved about Gibby. For a guy who was "just one of the good ol' boys" he was always surprisingly advanced in a lot of his managerial decisions. Always had generally solid lineup construction with things like Donaldson always batting 2nd and wasn't afraid to try unconventional things like putting Bautista in the leadoff spot.

  13. Shame also that the Blue Jays won't get to play him again after destroying him every other time they've seen him so far.
  14. It's a bluff and a weak one at that. No chance in hell he doesn't sign if one of the top three teams take him. But I haven't followed the draft prospects closely this year and I still thought Leiter was projecting as #1 OA. If what the others in here are saying is true and he's no longer a consensus top 3 then I don't really care if the Sox grab him.
  15. FanGraphs report that backs this up: "Save Your Closer! (Terms and Conditions May Apply)" You should save your best reliever to deal with the ghost-runner in the next inning. The new rules just dictate that you need at least two lights out relievers to compete. Unfortunately, the Blue Jays only have one.
  16. The Blue Jays last three losses to the Red Sox: 06/14/21 | Losing pitcher: Dolis. 4 BF - 3 H - 1 R 06/11/21 | Losing pitcher: Dolis. 2 BF - 1 H - 1 R 05/20/21 | Losing pitcher: Dolis. 8 BF - 4 H - 1 BB - 3 R
  17. I don't think it would be that huge of a difference. If anything, his wRC+ would probably be lower because league averages would be higher, and he'd probably have a slightly weaker MVP case (though he'd still be front-runner). At some point you can only be so good. Guy is literally lapping the league right now with a 206 wRC+.
  18. I was just thinking earlier today how I'd still take Donaldson back on this team in a heartbeat. Guy's still my favorite Blue Jays player of all time. Just throw Pearson in the pen.
  19. Not sure what everyone's so riled up about. The Jays can still win this game and then you'll be glad Romano's available to grab the save. Let's go Blue Jays.
  20. But that was a strike for Eovaldi though, right?
  21. Good call bringing in Dolis in the bottom of the 9th of a 1-1 tie, the guy who's famous for never getting 1-2-3 innings.
