  1. The All-Star game will no longer have players wearing their home team jerseys. Nike is introducing the All-Star game jersey concept they use in the NBA. Jays fans are pissed there's an American flag on the Blue Jays variant, lmao.
  2. Does Pearson have recurring groin injuries? If so, 4th opinion can mean overall since he first started dealing with issues in that area. Which would make lots of sense. They could be looking into investigating why he keeps hurting it. That kind of due diligence is important.
  3. This has to be the worst piece of content I've ever seen on MLB.com. https://www.mlb.com/news/surprising-but-defensible-all-star-ballot-2021
  4. This might be the worst performance by a single umpire ever.

  6. If he can stay in the zone, he's a top 10 reliever in baseball. And yeah he was masterful yesterday.
  7. Pretty interesting stat. Since the crackdown on sticky substances began, the Blue Jays are one of just three teams that have actually seen an increase in spin rate. The difference is obviously negligible (+13 RPM means nothing) but the big thing is that they haven't dropped at all. That makes me wonder if the Blue Jays on an organizational level saw the MLB's warnings early in the year and decided to have most of the staff pitch without any help from substances to get ahead of the curve and make that adjustment earlier on. If that's true, the Jays might have an advantage for the next few months.
  8. Funny thing about Chatwood is if he were on another team, he's the exact type of guy Jays fans would want the FO to trade for. Hopefully he's figured out whatever the hell was plaguing him and can be a reliable arm down there the rest of the way.
  9. Sammy's comment came in the same time mine did so I'm almost certain he was talking about Samad Taylor and not Moreno. Though I'm not sure how you can expect to get a big return for Samad just yet. Way too early to tell if the breakout is real.
  10. He's definitely always been BPA but it just comes down to who he thinks the BPA is. Like nobody else had Pascal Siakam as the best player available where Masai did. Another example is how he rated Shai Gilgeous-Alexander a lot higher than other front offices did and desperately tried to trade up to get him. Tried the same with Giannis once upon a time too. So it just comes down to whether Masai sees Suggs, Green and Mobley as the best available options at #4 or if he sees something in a guy like Kuminga that others don't. I'm hoping it's the former and the Raptors just end up with one of these super hyped prospects.
  11. I'm hoping that doesn't happen. I want one of the bonafide guys. I'd still trust Masai if he went off-meta here but it would just be a lot more unfun throughout the player development stage constantly wondering if they messed up by not taking one of the big guys. It's like Celtics fans being terrified of the Tatum/Fultz thing when it happened. Of course Tatum was the right pick all along but I'm just hoping this time around the reality is that the assumed BPA is the actual BPA and they just take him.
  12. Every minor leaguer that was ahead of Gabriel Moreno has regressed... except Gabriel Moreno. He now has the second highest wRC+ in the minors at 204, behind 26-year-old AA player Jacob Robson and the second highest batting average in the minors at .385, behind 28-year-old AAA player James Ritchie. Moreno's only apparent weakness to this point was his low walk-rate. So he began taking walks. After 4 BBs in 5 plate appearances in yesterday's game, his BB% has climbed to 9.6%, against a 16.3% K%. The walk rate is more than 30% higher than his previous career high
  13. What a win. What a sports day in general. Penny Oleksiak posts her best 100M Free time since her gold medal in Rio. Blue Jays win a close game without causing any stress. Raptors get 4th in the draft and are essentially guaranteed one of Suggs or Green. Franco smashes a 3-run bomb against the Red Sox for his first career hit. All the things I was looking forward to delivered. Great day.

  16. Yeah, it would have been nice for them to keep climbing but I'm just stoked they made top four. If you're ever gonna pick 4th, this is the year to do it.
  17. Vladdy's slip up doesn't hurt them immediately but it does probably take Chatwood out of a second inning.
  18. That was one of Chatwood's dirtiest outings of the year. Absolutely feasted on them.
  19. That's brutal. Chatwood was sniping too. Hope that doesn't mess with his rhythm.
  20. No other moves. Beasley dropped for Barnes. Tellez dropped for Springer. Hoying had already been demoted to make room for Teoscar coming off paternity leave. This is just them saying he's being assigned to Buffalo. Davis was also already off the roster for paternity leave himself, they're just sending him straight to the minors instead of adding him back to the 26-man and sending down someone else.
  21. Not sure where the report of Alcantara being scratched came from but I haven't seen anything and all indications are that he's starting.
