  1. Wasn't much of a doubt but it feels nice to read anyway: Springer confirmed to be in the lineup!
  2. Any idea what this could be about? Field of Dreams game perhaps?
  3. Springer returns, Franco debuts and the Raptors have their first shot at a decent draft pick in a long time. Exciting day.
  4. The playoffs were definitely a trainwreck this year but it was a lot worse than it ever normally is. A lot of people even within the league are attributing the rash of injuries to the incredibly short offseason and awkward scheduling of the past year-plus. Guys haven't rested properly in a long time (which is why I think it's absolute lunacy how many are already gearing up for the Olympics). But you're right, I don't have any numbers on which league suffers more injuries overall and my assumption that baseball has more than the NBA could just be built on confirmation bias.
  5. Most basketball players seem to have this. Watch one NBA game and you'll probably see 80 falls. Half the league's scorers drop to the ground on every drive and every shot. But the thing that always gets me is that these are giant men and they're falling to a hard surface all the time and they look completely weightless doing it. Like I know if my fat ass did that, I'd be crying about my hip for two weeks. And I feel like you see way less injuries in basketball than baseball despite the NBA being an incredibly high octane contact sport.
  6. Sorry Byron. Didn't mean to do it to ya. The hand injury makes Teoscar a favorite for a starting OF spot in the All-Star game. Hopefully Jays fans vote him in because the guy behind him is Michael Brantley and f*** the Astros.
  7. I'm definitely not educated or even interested enough to debate dietary choices but it needs to be emphasized that not only were they vegan for an extended period of time, they moved to raw veganism. Which is like vegan extremism: "What is a raw vegan diet? Raw veganism is a subset of veganism. Like veganism, it excludes all foods of animal origin. Then it adds the concept or raw foodism, which dictates that foods should be eaten completely raw or heated at temperatures below 104–118°F (40–48°C)." Not sure if their diet had anything to do with their conditioning and durability and whether they're all still on it, I just know a lot of people tied those things together when the horror stories about the family injury history started coming out.
  8. lol reminds me of Michael Saunders' injury history which was like three times as long as this. Never seen another athlete more made of glass. And of course in typical Jays fashion, he started his stint with a freak accident where he tore his meniscus by tripping on a sprinkler head. Not even the same knee. She had two in one knee and three in another. Their family's physiology is disgusting.
  9. Just look at Michael Porter Jr.'s family. A lot of people have hypothesized that their diet has a lot to do with it (raw veganism) but they have a f***ing hideous injury record. No way it's just coincidental. And that's from three years ago. Not sure if they've added to that endless suffering since.
  10. Well, maybe if that moron didn't have ball magnets surgically installed into his hand, he wouldn't be so injury prone! Friccin' moron!
  11. Angel Hernandez misses an easy strike three call (3rd pitch of this at-bat). Batter goes on to hit a homer two pitches later to break up the Astros no-hitter in the 8th inning.
  12. Records/trivia Jacob deGrom created today: - deGrom was the first pitcher inspected by umps for sticky substances under the new league mandate. | Video - deGrom became the first player in MLB history to pitch 12 straight starts allowing 1 run or less. - deGrom broke the record for most consecutive hitters retired in the 1st inning, with 34. - deGrom left the game with a 2.49 ERA and a 10.7 K/9 in 195 career starts. No other pitcher in MLB history with at least 70 starts has posted a sub 2.50 ERA with 10+ K/9 at any point in their career. | Source And he caught this comebacker, because why not.
  13. Blue Jays run differential: +43 Games above .500: 0 Red Sox run differential: +34 Games above .500: 14
  14. All-Star voting update just dropped. Vladdy is miles ahead of everyone else in baseball in voting. Semien is building a lead at 2B and Bichette is out of the running at SS. Grichuk and Hernandez are hanging around in the OF. If Trout can't play and Hernandez can make up the 100K vote difference between 5th and 4th, he'll probably start. If he can't make up that ground, he's basically out unless Judge or Buxton get injured, which is always a possibility.
  15. Apparently he looked pretty good in the Olympic qualifiers? Idk, I didn't watch and I haven't looked at the numbers. But Abom is right, they need help and unfortunately this is what help looks like in June. Between Carl's Jr, Barnes and now Axford, at least people can't say they aren't trying.
  16. I understand what you mean but it's still hilariously ironic that this is being said about the Rays.
  17. lol, the Mariners pushed the Rays over the edge. Franco coming up.
  18. lol, Moreno got another single after his home run. Moreno went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI's, 2 Runs. His BA is up to .388. Samad Taylor and Austin Martin each went 1-for-4. Otto Lopez hit his first homer of the season, finished 1-for-5. Groshans was 3-for-4 today with a homer. Average up to .274. This Vinny Capra guy also continues to absolutely rake. Capra went 2-for-3 with a walk and a homer. BA up to .411. SWR had a solid outing which looked worse due to a string of hits in the 4th. Finished with 5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 9 K. ERA for the season sitting at 2.70.
  19. What the f*** are these Red Sox pitchers' names? Yacksel Rios replaces Darwinzon Hernandez? Either way, they suck. Gave up a big rally to the Royals who scored 3 in the bottom of the 6th. Also looks like the Sox had two guys leave the game due to injury? https://i.imgur.com/7f3QgjA.png
  20. Wow, the A's put two men on with no outs against the Yankees in the top of the 9th of a 2-1 game and the Yanks got out of it with their third triple play of the year. https://streamable.com/pyscfk Before 2021, the Yankees had never turned two triple plays in a season. The Jays let them break that record recently.
  21. Almost poetic that all three outs were made in Vladdy's glove to close out that game.
  22. lol, Blue Jays infielders love making routine plays suspenseful every time.
