    Anyone who is removed from the 40 man has to pass through waivers, so they could be lost regardless of the rule 5. The rule 5 being cancelled just means we wouldn't have to add people to protect them, but we had already added the ones we wanted to protect, since we had no way of knowing it would be cancelled. It's just good for the Jays in this particular situation, since there were two (at least) unprotected guys who almost certainly would have been taken, and who have some potential upside still.

    Freeman just doesn't make sense at all for the Jays. I mean, don't get me wrong, he'd add a GREAT bat to the lineup, but would also severely limit roster flexibility...

    George Bell, Jose Bautista, Josh Donaldson all have cases (Donaldson would be a lock if he were here longer, that's for sure...).

    Villar might make sense if someone's interested in Biggio, but I can't imagine they'll sell low there...

    The Ramirez rumours are like 90% Jays fans saying "WE SHOULD GET RAMIREZ". I've yet to see anyone with actual insight suggest it as even a remote possibility. Freeman doesn't make sense to me either. Honestly, I think this team is a couple of relievers and some depth pieces away from being a serious playoff contender, but there are lots of rumblings that another domino is going to fall before the season for the Jays.

    Biggio is a perfectly cromulent starting 2B on the Jays this year, he doesn't need a platoon. We don't need all stars at every position, we need good players at some positions, all stars at others. IF we upgrade 3B, I wouldn't hate Espinal splitting time @ 2B with Biggio (and acting as the supersub for the rest of the IF), but I'm honestly not very worried about Cavan, I expect him to have a solid year.

    I'm not totally sure that Dickerson gets more than a MiLB deal w/ an invite to spring training. I'd ABSOLUTELY give him that, though.

    Don't the players need a 50% +1 vote to make this happen? I can't imagine that more than 14 player reps/teams would be that worried about an international draft. Of course, since they're doing everything in the stupidest possible way, it's probably not a secret ballot, so everyone could be worried about pissing other players off...

    I was 100% on #TeamPlayers until today, but this was honestly about as good an offer as they could have expected. I don't know where the owners could realistically move from here...

    Apple TV has some decent stuff, but I already pay for Disney+, Netflix, and Prime (plus a couple of buddies who run Plex servers). Not adding another service to the mix.
