  1. Romano really giving me a Jean-Ralphio from Parks & Rec vibe here...
  2. We call that "The Cito Effect"
  3. You're not wrong, but with this team as currently constructed I'm not at all worried about giving 400 ABs to Grichuk. Bat him 8th or 9th, and hope we get more of his hot streaks than usual this year.
  4. I don't know that I take a 39 year old Brett Gardner over Grichuk... He was always a pest against the Jays, but I don't really see that as an upgrade, unless you REALLY value "left handed" over everything else, which I don't.
  5. I think this is more a question that can be answered after the season. On paper I give a slight edge to 2022 (I mean, Chris Colabello as both your 1B AND your first bench option? He very much outplayed his ability in both of those roles.)
  6. I doubt they're trying to add a 2B, I think they were just doing due diligence on Ramirez, and would take him if the cost was alright (as he is an obvious upgrade over Biggio). I don't think they view 2B as a hole, but if you can toss a 6 WAR player there, you obviously do that.
  7. I don't really think you need to give Biggio DH reps, even if he bounces back. Unless there's some serious need to get both he and Espinal into a game at the same time, but I can't see that happening. Of course, we do have Chuckles, so you never know what that dude will do...
  8. The Jays are absolutely set, and they definitely do not need a 38 year old 1B making $22.5M. They also don't need Ramirez. Or Freeman. Chapman was the last offensive piece they need, barring maybe a bench/util type. They also could possibly use some bullpen help.
  9. Vasquez is a really interesting sign, and the fact that he's got an option improves that deal a lot. I think there's a good chance he breaks camp w/ the team though.
  10. Espinal actually graded as a better 3B than Chapman last year. Obviously defensive stats are a bit less black and white than pitching/batting stats, and Espinal also played less than half the innings at 3B so the sample size is smaller, but he's a VERY good defender (though definitely not better than Chapman, despite the stats...)
  11. Alright Chapman, you've got 3 days to get settled in before I expect to see you absolutely ballin'!
  12. There's still another Dickerson out there...
  13. There are very few situations where Chapman would be playing anywhere but 3B, maybe as an in-game injury replacement or something, but there's really no need to ever start him at SS.
  14. And no Joe Panik. People overlook that a lot.
  15. Consider me against trading for Ramirez unless it's a stupid low cost in prospect capital. We don't need to score 15 runs every game, we have a very good rotation and a passable pen, and I would still like to have some flexibility 3 years from now (financially and prospects wise). He'd OBVIOUSLY make the team better, but the team is already really good and I'm not sure an upgrade to the infield is necessary to be the best team in the AL East, and the cost will be substantial.
  16. I thought 26 was just the default roster size now? Was that only a pandemic thing? Yep, default roster size is 26 now. https://www.marca.com/en/mlb/2022/03/07/62264aea22601d0c4e8b45cc.html
  17. Depends how big the opening day roster is, there was talk about a larger early season roster due to the shortened spring training... They may try to sneak him through, or they may carry 3 catchers (one doing a lot of DHing...)
  18. He didn't have a QO attached, so... that's not at all relevant
  19. Check the Rosterbation thread.
  20. When we're already first in the AL East by 15 games?
  21. Definitely, but will depend on how Groshans/Moreno/Martinez develop this year I'd suspect.
  22. As already answered, Rule 5 was cancelled this year, but to add to that, Kevin Smith wasn't exposed to the rule 5 draft. It's only players who aren't on the 40 man roster (which he was) and who have a certain amount of playing time (depending on if they were a high school, or college draftee, or IFA). Basically the only people who are ever exposed in the rule 5 are players that the vast majority of fans have never heard of, unless they're the types who dig through prospect lists. (We did have 2 guys who would have been exposed this season who were at least interesting...)
  23. The Guardians do not have to trade Ramirez for what we feel comfortable giving them. There's zero chance we land Ramirez for Gurriel ++ (or Pearson +)
  24. Ridiculous on its face. Not threadworthy!
