  1. Unless a player is on the Jays or on my LOD team, I really have no idea how they are doing. The other day I heard about Khris Davis and all those homeruns and I was legitimately shocked. I haven't checked a statistical leaderboard in years.
  2. He was having a good season? I guess I missed that. I thought he sucked.
  3. Way to miss the point. Stoeten isn't claiming that his stats are bad. He's just saying that he wouldn't be talked about as much if he were Canadian. He probably shouldn't have mentioned the stats at all because it undermines his point but his post is pretty defensible if you can get past that. People here LOVE to pile on Stoeten even to the point of absurdity.
  4. You said I was lecturing about Humour. I was lecturing you about English. Pump your ball makes no sense. It's just nonsense. If you wanted to say "even if it makes no sense, I still think it's funny" just say that already.
  5. Has nothing to do with humour.
  6. "Tulo is an overpaid average player" is the kind of thing people were saying about him not that long ago and before that hey were saying worse things like calling him an albatross and saying the trade was terrible.
  7. Are you saying this because he is out of options or do you know something we don't know?
  8. It's pump their own tires. Pumping balls is a different thing entirely.
  9. Zeke's back so that's something. With his speed, Zeke probably provides as much as Pompey can be expected to provide. Both players seem to have had issues with their concentration but Zeke seems to have turned it around and Pompey seemed to hit rock bottom not that long ago with that nightmare game.
  10. It's like something out of a Russian dashboard video.
  11. But I don't think it's a no brainer that he comes in and produces. The guy is not squaring up anything right now. Sure he has a .345 OBP but he also has a .363 SLG. That's a hard trick to pull off and it's not good. It's not crazy to think he comes up and goes 0 for everything and you wasted an option year on a guy you knew wasn't performing well in the first place. If you assume that his performance translates to the MLB perfectly than best case scenario he gives you a very empty but relatively high OBP but more likely he gives you even less than that.
  12. It's a bit of a false dichotomy anyways. It's not Reddick versus Saunders. They could sign both. They could sign neither. They only have CF locked up so there's two outfield jobs (assuming Bautista flakes) and maybe a DH job too (assuming EE flakes and knowing that Smoak's name is entirely erasable) so that's not an obstacle. It's about whether each guy is worth signing on their individual merit. With what's potentially coming off the books and a not negligible chance of a payroll increase, the money shouldn't be an issue if the value is judged to be there.
  13. His baseball instincts are remarkably poor. Watching him everyday you can see why the Mariners soured on him thought they were pretty dumb to diss their own asset and probably should given more consideration to the total value he could potentially provide instead of focusing on the negatives. As long as he's hitting, you take the good with the bad but he doesn't do much to support that skill. His base running is especially derpy.
  14. Yeah the Martin honeymoon was pretty much over as soon as the games started counting. I think people expected more offense.
  15. The Canadian thing is hardly a get out of jail free card. Fan base was pretty split on Lawrie at the time of his trade and mediocre canadian players like Corey Koskie didn't become favourites because of their passport. People like that Saunders is Canadian when he's doing well and don't really care when he's injured or struggling.
  16. Well it's not like there isn't work for him if he does accept.
  17. I'm not really sure how to answer the poll. Does offering the q.o. count as no even though it could conceivably lead to him returning?
  18. I don't think the casual fan would necessarily see the flaws with Saunders. The guy hit a ton this year. Things like defensive value and his injury history won't phase them. Remember how passionate casual fans were about Melky Cabrera? One mouth breather even said that the offseason was a failure unless they signed Melky. I'm pretty sure it was after the Donaldson trade too. People will want Saunders back at all cost and will be very upset if he goes to another team. And if Bautista and EE walk and Saunders doesn't, there will be some "at least we got Saunders" rationalizations.
  19. That was a really interesting read.
  20. Odor is an 80 grade punch runner.
  21. Kratz can't hit a lick anymore and yet in spite of that, he's probably no worse than Thole. Jimenez has bounced back a bit offensively after the nadir that was last year. I'm still not a fan of his but he too is probably no worse than Thole.
  22. Is the desire to spare Stroman and Sanchez really a justification for keeping Dickey around if he has lost all effectiveness? If you MUST have a 6 man rotation, would you really lose anything swapping Bolsinger and McGuire for Dickey and Thole assuming Dickey keeps pitching like this?
  23. Oh yeah... I remember him being an off-season target one year and reportedly turning the Jays down before even receiving an offer.
  24. Even in LOD, people typically prefer to wait for the waiver wire drops like piranhas than trade for a marginal asset.
  25. I would say that with rosters expanding in September anyways, there's an excellent chance that Bautista will be activated by Labour Day if he hasn't been activated before that. Whether he will be 100% is another story.
