  1. Ugh. I'd prefer to believe the Jays have no money than to believe they have been squireling away money on an all or nothing bid for a free agent pitcher. They'll end up with nothing.
  2. I think this illustrates why the old system was unfair to the player. I would think Darvish would support the change even if he didn't benifit personally.
  3. They are always going to be the first pick for veteran players trying to rebound. Some of them will provide good value and some of them will bust but even the ones that bust have an uncanny habit of providing good value initially. It's not textbook roster development but it can continue to work for them.
  4. Vanland would be interested.
  5. Yeah there's no way to know for sure. That just seems to be the accepted narrative on McGwire. He certainly was quite a bit slimer in his rookie season but being slimmer in your twenties is pretty much the norm for every North American male so who knows. One thing to consider if you doubt the accepted narrative is that Canseco was a one year veteran on that 1989 Oakland team. We all know it started with Canseco. It's just a question of when.
  6. s***. I love Capuano. I'd be all over that if I was AA.
  7. I can't really answer that but reportedly McGwire's rookie record of 49 homeruns was accomplished pre-steroids which if true would give an idea of the guy's natural power.
  8. If Price gest moved for prospects I think it will be for another team's prospects. I don't think AA has a shot unless he moves EE and he might be too desperate to do the right thing and walk away.
  9. I agree with you there but will you still say as much if it really happens or will you take the optimist's point of view?
  10. Given the current state of the farm, that wouldn't be such a big deal. Sadly though I don't think the Rays want the farm, they wan't EE and they just might get him.
  11. Kind of an absurd question since the GM likely doesn't have that kind of money to spend in the first place.
  12. The concept of windows of contention is so absurd when the richest team in baseball is in your division. If the Yankees miss the playoff next year it will be their first back to back non playoff seasons in twenty years.
  13. Never really seemed like a fit. They could sign a whole bunch of ++ white guys for the cost of Tanaka.
  14. I should have seen this coming as soon as NJH wrote that the Jays should acquire him: http://www.breakingblue.ca/2014/01/20/logan-forsythe-is-available-be-still-my-heart/ Smart franchise is smart.
  15. So you're just going to root for the athletes who haven't been caught yet and call them clean like all those dopes who thought Lance Armstrong was a hero?
  16. Everyone in that 100M final has since been linked to steroids. Ben Johnson was the scapegoat for track and for sports in general. It was the event that opened everyone's eye to the realisty of steroids and he paid a huge price but looking back it's pretty obvious he was the best at his sport and didn't deserve to be disgraced. He won that race, period.
  17. Even if you watched him, you still can't wrap your head around it. That whole period in baseball seems like a weird dream. It doesn't seem like it actually happened. Back then new offensive standards seemed to constantly be set. You don't realize your seeing baseball's offensive peak until there's a downturn in offense and you look back and you're like holy s***! Did I actually witness that?
  18. Should have been a Blue Jay. Team would have made the playoffs.
  19. I used Bradley Ankrom's top 100 list last year in addition to the other ones. It wasn't necessarily better but multiple perspectives are useful. He was far more bearish on Zunino than most lists and he pointed me to some names I would have ignored otherwise such as Vogelbach.
  20. I drafted Harvey as a prospect in a keeper league because of BP which had him ranked higher than anyone else. That sort of thing creates a positive bias even if it was before Parks took over the list.
  21. You're being a bit coy here. Is that what you feel Parks is doing?
  22. Parks is the guy for me. Not afraid to stick his neck out for really young players. I respect the hell out of that.

He seemed really unhinged but in the end, he didn't actually do or say anything wrong just like you said. He dared to be black and intimidating and that's a capital offense in the US (see all the people trying to justify Trayvon Martin's murder that way). Because he's a football player, he's classless. If he was Joe Blow in Florida, he might be dead.

She actually tried to continue the interview for a bit. I was like "just let it go".
