  1. LOL at that headline. Sums up AA's "plan" quite well.
  2. Gotta love how all those trade scenarios fall apart because the Jays don't have any depth to trade from. This team is so thin. They'd better start hot out of the gate and bank some wins while the key player are healthy because things will snowball once the injuries hit again (they always do!) Could be a long season.
  3. Phil Bickford and Chris Okey, I believe, are the only two unsigned players on DDL rosters. Okey is on my roster and I'm maxed so he'll have to really bring it to justify the spot.
  4. You're doing it wrong. You're supposed to call him a turd "in passing".
  5. It happens every time the Jays have one.
  6. Because the team is short on talent and that's all there's left.
  7. A Gose/Pillar platoon MIGHT provide acceptable production.
  8. That's how I feel as well. There's really no one in the minors or on the bench who would justify juggling the whole lineup.
  9. Would you rather? - Move two players out of position to open up an OF spot for one of Gose/Pillar/Sierra - Call up Kawasaki
  10. The thought crossed my mind as well.
  11. It would make sense to use positional flexibility in order to use depth in some areas to cover for lack of depth in others but there's hardly any depth anywhere. The deepest position is probably catcher with Navarro/Thole/Kratz/Jimenez on the 40 man and Nickeas available as an emergency caddie for Dickey and even Lawrie can catch in an extreme pinch. There's not a whole lot you can do to convert that depth other than give DH starts to Kratz or Navarro.
  12. Do they work for Rogers?
  13. He even threw in another player! Granted I never thought Gomes would be as good as he it but I did think it odd that AA needed more than just Aviles to land Rogers.
  14. That's why it's a false dichotomy.
  15. Yep. AA had probably one shot at a big payroll increase and he blew it along with half the farm.
  16. If not rebuilding or going balls to the wall is a half-assed approach than there's no denying that they half-assed that half-assed approach. It's pretty pathetic. The most the fans can hope for now is that maybe the team adddresses one of its holes before the season starts.
  17. You were a dick first. Just tit for tat, dude.
  18. No amount of shuffling will hide the fact that the Jays are playing one position player short, one and a half if you count Lind's bad platoon split, two and a half if Melky doesn't bounce back. That's terrible for your overall depth. Positional depth was at least as much of a need for this team as pitching depth but I guess that's kind of a moot point since neither was addressed.
  19. Gose to RF when his only value is as a defensive CF? Not sure about that.
  20. Oh piss off. They did even less than that which was my point. They didn't even address holes which would have been the bare minimum. Does it mean they finish higher than last, probably not, but sure as hell gives the team a better chance than what they did do.
  21. I think there was a third path which was to simply plug holes with small payroll increases or by shifting salary away from the bullpen and try to win with the same core. In that play, you address catcher (which they did), address 2B (which they didn't), get an OF and an IF for the bench at least one of which is a solid right-handed platoon bat (nope), bring in a second tier second pitcher (still might sign Capuano but I doubt it).
  22. I found some video. It skips over the part where he pounded Roseboro but you can see both Marichal and Tito Fuentes of the Giants wielding bats in the ensuing melee.
  23. I guess he didn't break his bat if he hit him repeatedly. That's some Al Capone s*** right there.
