  1. Yeah that's the catch but given how inexperienced the projected 2015 outfield is, a DL stashee might still be a good idea.
  2. He actually fits an area of need.
  3. If you believe the reports, they're declining the option on Smoak. Although I really have no idea how much they can shave off his salary by re-notiating. Maybe the idea is to try to convince him to sign a MiLB deal?
  4. Yeah wrong thread, lol.

  6. It's counter-intuitive but the value of elite players goes down the bigger the league.
  7. I think Hendricks can be effective but it's really early to be committing roster spots to fringy guys.
  8. Nessy hasn't really lived up to their dreams. It's quite possible the Jays didn't really have a spot for him next year and Hendricks can be a back end reliever. In which case it's something for nothing. After the Yan Gomes fiasco, there's always the fear that the team might be underestimating another catcher's defense but my money's on Chung not Nessy to be the next Gomes.
  9. And what are you going to do to make room for Kratz. Dump Thole? Oh wait....
  10. Hum... yeah seems like it. I guess Hendricks was just a rental.
  11. I actually like Hendricks. This might be a good trade depending on who the catcher is. I hope it's not Chung. That guy is an awesome defensive catcher.

O.K. now everybody watch the last 3 innings of the MLB season!
  13. Bochy is over-compensating for last night's Peavy fiasco.
  14. He preached against an aggressive approach.
  15. On the plus side, we don't know how committed they are to Smoak. They might just be f***ing around. They pick up people just to try to sneak them by waivers all the time.
  16. TMZ: Former major league slugger Jose Canseco blew his middle finger clear off his hand while cleaning his handgun at home in Las Vegas. Jose's fiancée Leila Knight tells TMZ Sports ... he was sitting at a table in their home cleaning the gun when it went off. She says he didn't know it was loaded -- and the shot ripped through the middle finger on his left hand. Leila tells us 50-year-old Canseco is in surgery right now as doctors desperately try to save what's left of the finger. She says the bullet tore through the bottom part of the finger and doctors have already said he'll never have full use of it again ... even under the best of circumstances. 17. At the risk of attracting derision, I might actually be interested.
  18. Potentially, he costs 4 million.
  19. Switch-hitting 1B, might be insurance so they can move Lind now. Though cheaper than Lind he isn't better value but maybe his value + (whatever the Lind return is) adds up to something good. I don't love the move but it sets up intriguing possibilities.
  20. TSN already carries Sunday Night Baseball across the country. They can broadcast baseball.
  21. Having the luxury to use the option on Pompey or Pillar would be really nice so I'd be all for a Chris Young signing, otherwise the team is likely to run into some of the same depth issues they had at 2B this year.
  22. Royals prospect Kyle Zimmer to undergo surgery: http://www.royalsreview.com/2014/10/27/7077961/shoulder-surgery-likely-for-royals-prospect-kyle-zimmer
  23. The more of these guys hit the market, the better the chance the Jays land "somebody" whether a Major Leaguer or an IFA. Keep 'em coming.
  24. I don't really see it but there are people here with a much better understanding of how the financial sector operates who could do a much better job than me at breaking down the pros and cons.
  25. That would be one hell of a Hail Mary for Bell. Would it be worth it to buy a MLB team and build a stadium for a broadcasting property that probably wouldn't out-perform the much cheaper CFL? I'd say no.
