In that one, he said some nice things about Lind to smooth over any possible controversy over Lind's criticism of the team and talked about the bullpen again as a major dissapointment.

By the time he was fired, Ricciardi was the longest tenured GM in baseball. The opportunities he was given were different than the ones that AA has been given but there's no doubt that he was certainly given opportunities.

Yeah he eventually mentions Gose but it sounds like he just brought him up to be diplomatic. He doesn't seem too tore up about Rasmus leaving either. Sounds like he's fine with putting the Rasmus and Melky somewhere else (ignoring of course that some of that money is committed to salary increases).

He was the bench coach for the Royals from 2008-2011 and then he managed a San Diego affiliate in 2012. The Jays aren't the only people in baseball who value John Gibbons. He's had not problem finding employment in the past and he, no doubt, will have no problem finding it in the future. -
Is it crazy to think that you could get two years of Aoki for the same money as Melky's qualifying offer?

Dickey has made it very clear that he is not involved in personnel decisions and he emphaticaly does not want to be involved with them. The last thing he wants is for players to be lobbying him for their jobs. This is all on AA.

I'm pretty sure that was G-Snarls who interestingly didn't make Moogy's s*** list.

He needs to be on the 40 but not the 25. As far as I know, he hasn't even spent a single day on the 25 man roster so options aren't an issue and won't be for a time. I would expect both him and Nickeas to provide AAA depth again this year.

I'm surprised at how bad Markakis' OF defense is. When someone has been around a long time and they don't hit that much, you just kind of assume that they have defensive value.

Hard to consider moving Bautista from the OF when he's the only veteran OF under control.

He's 2 years older than Markakis which in this case I think is a plus because he should be willing to sign for a shorter term.

I find the tought of Markakis intriguing. Good OFs who don't have sexy offensive numbers seem to make good value plays.

Oh man! I had forgotten about Devlin but he impressed me greatly. I didn't want him to leave. (I have no idea how good or bad he is/was with the Raptors. Maybe he's one of those guys who does better when he knows less about the sport.)

I think part of this is on Jerry too. I think he's more accomodating to an ex player like Ashby or Morris. He doesn't work well with Wilner either.

The broadcast lost a lot when Ashby left. Nothing against Siddall but he's a more passive presence in the booth.

I appreciate Jerry. I wouldn't say I'm enamoured. Although I'm wary of who would replace him, I think it would be nice if he retired. The Jays could honour him properly and move on. One of my pet peeves with him is that he rehashes the World Series teams quite a bit. I'm really tired of people who do that.
