  1. There's nothing to panic about anyways. It's not big deal either way. We can live with Estrada, we can live with putting the money somewhere else too. This deal won't make or break the offseason.
  2. "voted on by Major League managers and coaches" Well I guess that explains the problem.
  3. This came up in Around Baseball and your guess is as good a mine. EE had better numbers, saber or traditional. You would think offensive performance would be easier to measure and grade and that they wouldn't f*** these up like they do the gold gloves.
  4. Yeah instead of regressing to career norms he just got stronger at the end which made everyone except the most dogmatic FIP, xFIP worshipers consider that there might be something there. His track record as a FIP beater didn't really exist before this season so some skepticism is definitely warranted but some openness is warranted too.
  5. I guess it's just part of the organizational m.o.
  6. Yeah, I'm not saying that I don't believe that Navarro calls a better game. I'm more than willing to believe that but at the same time I feel like this can't be allowed to become something that handicaps Martin. Figure out the differences between what the two catchers were calling and work it out.
  7. I really don't want to do the personal catcher thing with Estrada again. Surely Martin and Estrada can work things out in such a way that Martin will call the game Estrada wants. If anyone should have a personal catcher it's Dickey and resigning Navarro would get in the way of that.
  8. That would make sense but I think a lot of player just blow tons of money and are better off having their revenue increase over time than the other way around. I'm pretty bad with money so that's definitely what I would want.
  9. So is Martinez a guy that prospect hounds whiffed on? Or did I just miss the hype because of his rather common surname?
  10. Do players ever agree to front-loaded contracts? You don't really want to set yourself up for diminishing revenue if you can help it.
  11. He also might enjoy it a lot more now that he is contributing for a contender that plays in a southern city.
  12. Well Miggy has an edge in wrc+ but if that was the criteria EE's 20 points over Kendrys Morales would get it for him. I'm not really understanding the logic they are using here at all. It's not consitently saber, it's not consitentely counting stats. Not sure what it is. Are these awards always this bad? I don't usually pay attention.
  13. So I just learned today that J.D. Martinez hit 38 homeruns this year. I only have a very feint notion of who J.D. Martinez even is and he hit 38 homeruns. I'm pretty floored by this news.
  14. Protects him from a bad 2016 and all things being equal players probably prefer to stay in the same place for awhile if they are happy and enjoying success.
  15. He did. He was one of the outfielders.
  16. I don't understand Kendrys Morales beating out Encarnacion for the Silver Slugger at all. You would think an offensive award would be harder to screw up than a defensive one but that one is real head scratcher. http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/877924
  17. So the AFL is basically his audition? One last chance to convince the org one way or another?
  18. Putting general board bitterness aside though, this isn't trolling. Spreading false reports is definitely bannable. Also, just because someone got away with something doesn't imply tacit approval from the mods. Some stuff falls through the cracks. It's bound to happen. We're not always on top of everything and it's annoying when some larger conclusions are drawn from that. Finally, reporting is not a bannable offense in and of itself and it's annoying to have this stated so often. Judicious reporting is super helpful. The only thing that's problematic is being spammed by constant reports for the same thing. Reporting doesn't guarantee an immediate response or even any response but it does help. That being said, you wan't always get what you want from the mods and you have to be willing to just let it go sometimes. If you really aren't comfortable reporting or IMing mods than at least have the decency not to complain about posters not getting banned. It's really annoying to have to read complaints about a situations not being dealt with when they weren't brought to our attention in the first place (either through reporting or IM). Again, bringing it to our attention doesn't guarantee action but even when we don't act immediately, we do take note of complaints and that can lead to action down the line if not right away. Sometimes we're slower than we should be, sometimes we just don't see it the way you do and sometimes we're just flat out wrong. I don't think any of that means you can't work with us.
  19. I remember reading that but I missed the part where it was made up. I don't think it was ever reported.
  20. Why do they always talk about the QOs like they didn't exist in the previous bargaining agreement? They have been accepted before just not under the current rules.
  21. Not helping.
  22. Pompey was awarded a minor league gold glove in CF. All the scouting reports rave about his defense. I have seem him play CF in AA myself and I can tell you that he sure as hell passes the eye test too. You're fabricating a whole new reality here based on a liberal interpretation of what happened on the MLB club this year.
  23. Pompey is a better CF than Fowler.
  24. Pompey could bust. I mean I'm not expecting it the way BTS is but it would be ridiculous not to account for the possiblity.
  25. I don't agree with that but it is a possible outcome and that has to be factored when making the trade. When you're a contender there's something to be said for the bird in the hand and Chapman is one hell of a bird.
