  1. What's so great about a leg kick? I mean if it works for him, that's great but is there something inherently superior about having one? Isn't it just about whatever works for the particular hitter? It's good if he incorporates it in a way that he's not self conscious about it at the plate and it's bad if he doesn't. For all we know, he'll slump through the first month and switch to something else.
  2. I don't like making that assumption. I don't think it's fair to posters who might merely be casuals and not well versed in baseball stats.
  3. Either you're trolling or you haven't really researched this idea. I've posted his stats from his last two season as well as his current Steamer projection below. He still hits some homeruns but he's not a 35-40 guy anymore, his slash line is brutal and by fWAR he's a negative asset defensively. He's not a Gold Glove or Silver Slugger candidate by any reasonable stretch and when you factor his salary, he's a negative asset. There's absolutely no reason to give up anything of value for Jay Bruce at this point. Certainly not 1/5 of your rotation and 2/3 of what might be your OF of the future. 4. Jimenez had a 218/296/322 slash line as a 25 year old in AAA. He'd have to be a hell of a defender or be really good at catching a knuckleball to even be worth rostering.
  5. Isn't everyone supposed to go on waivers first or do we care about that?
  6. Osuna in the major league starting rotation was never going to happen. Not a realistic scenario given where he's at in his development. Assuming Storen takes the closer's job, Osuna can transition into a two inning reliever and then the team can re-assess from there.
  7. Why does anyone think Gibbons would bat Pillar leadoff anyways? Did he say something that I missed?
  8. "He loves to play every day and he's learning how to hit." Well I'm sold.
  9. I wonder if Martin played a role in this signing. He's worked with Sanchez before. Maybe Atkins consulted him when Sanchez was first designated. Anyway I like the signing. Much closer to average hitter than either Thole or Jimenez and he might still have a bit of untapped upside.
  10. About average if you read what GSnarls included in the second post.
  11. Not getting drafted in a 20 team dynasty suggested as much to me.
  12. Now, now, play nice children.
  13. Damn it. I was too slow on the edit.
  14. Funny thing is that I would have pounced on Knapp and he's not a better player than Contreras just a player whose hype reached my ear.
  15. Am I wrong that Knapp fits that description to a T? He's not there.
  16. This is frustrating. I did a lot of work cross-checking the top minor leaguers with the Yahoo! database and our ownership spreadsheet and then didn't do enough with that information. I'm like the GM who doesn't listen to his analytic team except that were the same person.
  17. They announced with great fanfare that they would have more player in the database this year but instead if just feels more arbitrary than usual. There are several players with a pretty clear path that are missing and many without any real chance that are there.
  18. Yeah I wish I had know this. He just came to my attention through my spreadsheet and I looked into him briefly, figured he wouldn't make an offensive impact this year and moved on. He was on my watch list but since I don't follow scouting reports at all, I didn't prioritize him. Damn, this isn't the first time you've scooped me on players that make more sense for my team.
  19. Yeah I figure he was a complete non factor this year and just moved on but he has more prospect hype than I realized. I should have investigated more closely.
  20. Interesting. I knew he was available the whole time. I guess I shrugged him off too easily.
  21. Interested to see who Dinger picks here. He could use another SS eligible player or a SP but I suspect if he's moving up it's to snatch a reliever.
