    Dom Brom put up a .351 wOBA in 139 games in 2013. That's actually slightly better than what Jay Bruce put up that year (.344), the last time either of them was good. This is a pretty interesting low cost move and it doesn't involve moving Saunders, it's just potentially adding another (intriguing) body to the mix. If this is the plan B for not getting Bruce, I can't say I mind it at all.

    I'm not big on jingoism but that hat sold like hot cats. From a marketing perspective, it was pure gold. I can't see this one being a hit. Probably designed by someone who hasn't even heard of The Toronto Maple Leafs.

    Oh... O.k. Well I guess it's not a big deal then but I like the idea of these video games being like little time capsules. I guess that's still true of the older ones.

    Maybe I just don't understand how these games work but doesn't a roster update just mean changing the uniforms? This sounds like it would be a skills update.

    Yeah I think that sentiment is pretty universal. They'd look fine on Leafs players but having the Jays wear that colour leaf is just wrong.

    This seems like a pretty fundamental change. Baseball games are usually based on a snapshot of how players were perceived at the time the game was created and the fact that some players are overrated or underrated is part of the fun of it. You can play out all kinds of scenarios based on that flawed snapshot. If the players keep evolving and adjusting to new data, it should make the game more realistic but might also take away some of the fun.

    I mean whatever. I don't have an issue with Bautista. I mean no one likes him for his personality. Except for maybe Kawasaki, no one really likes any ballplayer for their personality. We like what they do on the field and on the field, Bautista's surliness just adds to his legend. When he commits assault or something, I'll label him a bad guy. All this other stuff is small potatoes.

    Yeah I was just thinking that early today. He might have put up a ridiculous number just to posture and probably didn't want the number out just his little line in the sand speech. I still don't think Westhead knew jack s***. Pulled a number out of his ass and if the latest rumors are to be believed got sort of close and it all snowballed from there.

    I just wrapped my head around the fact that Hoffman and Syndergaard are the same age. What Hoffman is doing now, Syndergaard was surpassing two years ago.

    I like Bautista. He's one of the franchises greats and I'd really like for him to finish his career with all the team records but that just doesn't look like it's in the franchise's best interest right now.

    Blah, blah, blah, corporations, blah, blah, blah, profits. Sounds a lot like a casual which isn't surprising, his job is to be good at baseball not understand baseball or corporate economics but it would be nice if he realized where his expertise ends and kept his rant for himself. At this point, all Atkins can do about Bautista is avoid putting more oil on the fire.

    Doesn't seem to be much evidence for either claim. Seems more like wishful thinking.

    It's funny. Now that I'm pretty Jose's leaving, I'm realizing that I'm pretty o.k. with it. He's the face of the franchise sure but he's no longer THE franchise. If you you suddenly had money to burn, Bautista wouldn't even be the best place to burn it. That would be Donaldson. Only the sentimental factors says otherwise.
