  1. Well that's cool but my point isn't so much that you're wrong but rather that this isn't really the big indictment of Farrell that you're making it out to be.
  2. It's complicated and I don't want to discuss it openly. PM me if you want more details.
  3. North is busy with his job. The JFaS account has been deleted.
  4. It's a fairly frivolous petitions and they are loads of similarly frivolous (or worse) petitions on change.com which really limits its potential as a meaningful tool for change. That being said, if you want embrace and support this cause, that's fine but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
  5. Yeah I get that but that doesn't mean there isn't a benefit to keeping the pitchers on their regular turn. It's a less tangible benefit but that doesn't mean you can just blanketly assume it's not there.
  6. It's April and it's a long season. I don't like Farrell more than the next guy but I don't really see what's so egregious about this.
  7. If the team had just steamrolled TB, I'd feel pretty good about facing Price but given that the team is only at .500 right now, I'm pretty o.k. with getting an easier matchup. All the games have been tight so far and I think both the team and the fanbase would really enjoy an offensive beat down.

That foul to Jonas really worked against the Raptors there.

So why aren't The Raptors winning?

Yeah I just tuned in to this one late and was surprised, nay, shocked to see Demare Carroll. I didn't even know what he looked liked until just now.
  11. Don't you get it? He's REAL ACCOUNTANT obviously.
  12. Dineke speaks the truth. No matter how terrible Gibby's decisions are (and I do think they're terrible), he should not be fired unless or until he loses the clubhouse.
  13. I expect Gibby to last the season and frankly if there was a manager change I'd much rather wait until the offseason and possibly make a play for someone like Sandy Alomar Junior than doing it now and having to throw Wedge or one of the coaches in there on an interim basis.
  14. This seems fair. I'll just + 1 this rather than put serious thought into it.
  15. It's a lot more subtle then that. Brand recognition influences consumer choices and not necessarily on a conscious level.
  16. When people need to clear waivers in order to be traded, they usually put them on waivers to see if they can clear before there's any actual trade discussion going on. This seems to imply that once you clear waivers once, you're good to go for the rest of the season.
  17. But you could just as easily argue (and I would) that resistance to him apologizing (if indeed he is) is also making a mountain of a molehill. What is the big deal about him apologizing for saying something that a lot of people in society (but apparently hardly anyone on this board) would deem a pretty darn stupid thing to say?
  18. Of course I'm serious. I'm pretty disappointed that people seem so incapable of believing otherwise. I don't know how we can ever expect to have genuine debate on these kinds of issues when there's such a refusal to even acknowledge the sincerity of criticism you disagree with.
  19. You're assuming that everyone who might be critical of him is a zealot. It's not a mono-culture. It doesn't makes sense to refuse to recognize the criticism just because you assume the worst of ALL of his critics.
  20. Look I can't speak for all the outraged. I'm sure there's plenty of garbage on Twitter or whatever but on a basic level what's so bad about holding Gibbons accountable for a very unfortunate public comment? It's that really too much to ask? At least give people some credit. To just paint anyone bothered by Gibbons's comments as insincere is ********. I physically cringed when that sexist crap left his mouth just like I cringe at Zaun's use of the word sissies.
  21. Why is it phony outrage? Why does being offended make a fat feminist on Tumblr? To me it's about as obvious as it gets but whatever you don't agree but instead of listening you caricature and dismiss objections as phony. That only makes the discourse worse not better.
  22. Why not? It was a plainly sexist comment. If Y.Escobar can (rather stupidly) be run out of a town for a comment on his bloody eye black than surely Gibbons can apologize for a statement made directly to the media. Even if you deny the sexism, trying to nip this in the bud is the obvious thing to do.
