  1. If I'm Tony Clark I'm demanding arbitration after the 2nd year in the next CBA. They will have to give a little but this is getting ridiculous.
  2. To deter tanking perhaps MLB could do a draft like the NBA does where lets say the 15 best teams record-wise have a set draft position and the other 15 teams have a lottery for their draft position for the entire draft.
  3. I don't think the length of the game is an issue. NFL games and MLB games last roughly the same amount of time, and the same amount of downtime between plays. I think what it comes down to is the number of games that are played and the action that is involved. NFL gameplay is just more entertaining to the masses because it's "faster." Baseball is "boring." A 16 game NFL season makes people pumped up for each game because there are so few (4% of the year). The Blue Jays play about 44% of the year if they don't make the playoffs. MLB is in a hard situation. How can you make something that happens half the year exciting to people with short attention spans?
  4. This may be a touchy subject but I'd be interested in his thoughts on how many minor leaguers quit playing solely for financial reasons. Obviously the bonus babies can stick a few years but those players chosen after those rounds may not have the ability to live off of like $13,000 a year.
  5. I think it has to do with teams finally realizing that money is best spent elsewhere than a typical power hitting first baseman because the market is flush with them. Many teams seem to be going more towards players who are versatile and it's hard to justify spending $6 million on a player who really can only play first.
  6. I enjoy monitoring the independent leagues and would love to see the Jays sign David Rollins to a MiLB deal. He led his league in strikeouts averaging almost 1 an inning he pitched as a starter. Might be an interesting bullpen depth option if he gave up the weeds.
  7. It does but if the owner meddles too much he couldn't really be successful so if I was him I don't know if I'd be interested in that.
  8. Can you be a journeyman player if you've only played for 2 teams?
  9. You guys could talk about your all time favorite Jays and why you liked them. Maybe a prospect that you thought could make it but failed (like Eddie Zosky), or a prospect that you thought was crap and turned out to be a pretty good asset to the org.
  10. Jon Harris is pitching well in game 2 of the Eastern League finals. Cats lead 4-1. There might be one championship in the org this year!
  11. I don't really think any team would roster Vicuna the whole season, and probably not even Jon Harris.
  12. If we are going to sign a shitbag I'd rather just roll with guys like Jon Harris who can give us shitbag innings at league minimum. I really think we only have a year, maybe two, before we can contend again. If you are able to get someone like Keuchel for lets say 4 years for a reasonable price, you do it.
  13. What free agent targets make sense for us this year (realistically) if Shatkins stays?
  14. It would be awesome to get Gibby on your show as a special guest somehow. He's just so damn lovable.
  15. I've never really had an issue with anyone on here other than in the politics thread where I think that the discussion can became uncivil at times. If you don't like the guys that post here regularly and frequently you could always find another board to post on.
  16. Boxy should post that image on the Orioles hangout site if he can get a name.
  17. 6.1ip 2er 6h 3bb 6k 1hr 80p And the mustache will be prime.
  18. I have faith in this leadership that one spot won't mean much with draft talent. Their last draft was awesome.
  19. He made a decent living when he was playing I just don't get why he'd take the risk. He probably could have went into coaching or private lessons to make money. So dumb.
  20. I see where he is coming from. The O's have to either offer him a QO and give him a larger 1 year pay day than he would get in the open market or he hits the open market with no QO attached (not that it means as much anymore).
  21. We got 1 guy who is versatile and a decent prospect. That's pretty much what I figured we'd get.
  22. I get that but I don't think an average fan would want to go to a game in Vegas unless they are playing their team. That's all. And I agree with Term, that would be a really cool thing to do, and could possibly be a fun marketing thing.
  23. I think any result that occurs in disciplinary action is absolutely dumb. All he said was dumb stuff that was on his mind and that's not a crime.
  24. I could see Vegas having the same problems as Tampa where a lot of people there are from out of town and don't have a connection to the Vegas team so they don't care.
