  1. My apologizes it was the Cam-Am and Frontier leagues that merged. https://ballparkdigest.com/2019/10/16/can-am-league-frontier-league-merger-announced/
  2. That's the thing! A lot of smaller teams have a lot of community support and it could really reinvigorate some of these indy leagues. I come from an area that is about 30 minutes from the Reading Phillies and about 20 minutes to the independent Lancaster Barnstormers and both teams have a solid support system it seems. Some of the AA/AAA teams may fold but the lower level teams I feel could really fit into the expansion of these leagues.
  3. I could also see independent leagues merging and expanding. The Frontier league and the Cam-Am league have already merged for the upcoming season. It wouldn't surprised me if the Atlantic and Frontier leagues joined them in an effort to make more of an "unofficial" minor league. The towns that would lose their minor league teams would have the facilities already in place and I could see expanding these leagues there. **edited to correct mistake
  4. I view Shaw as a good bounce back candidate and I think that he will have a good amount of trade value at the deadline as he can play multiple positions and has some pop.
  5. This idea of expansion would be very fascinating because the last draft was done over 20 years ago and how players are views performance wise is so different. It's kinda hard to pick who you would protect because if you look at past results most of the players selected didn't really benefit their original selection team (Bobby Abreu, Dmitri Young-Rays, Cory Lidle, Tony Batista, Joe Randa-D-backs). I left Elvis off my first 6 because I didn't think a team would draft a 20 year old player off our roster. I left Rowdy off because I am unsure how a league that is so into advanced stats and roster flexibility would want a 1B/DH when they could be signed for such a little amount of money in FA. If I had to guess who gets plucked off our roster it will be a pitcher.
  6. I noticed you had Trent Thornton in both, did you mean Kay for one?
  7. First 6: Ryan Borucki Teoscar Hernandez Billy McKinney Sean Reid-Foley Travis Shaw Trent Thornton Second 3: Anthony Alford T.J. Zeuch Elvis Luciano
  8. Maybe. I feel like it just makes more players willing to accept college scholarships as their dollar value will easily exceed the $20k. Has it come out if teams can put in scholarship money clauses in these bonuses/contracts like they have been able to in the past?
  9. Saw Clemens on there my mistake.
  10. Not trying to get too technical but are we only basing this off of their tenure here or are we including players like Rickey Henderson and Roger Clemens who played for us but only for a short time?
  11. I enjoy it too. I have two franchises going at all times, a Blue Jays one and an independent league team. The IL team is always really fun to play because it's a lot more difficult when teams can just buy your players so you always have to be out there looking for their replacement and players with positional versatility.
  12. I live in Philly so this doesn't really mean anything to me but if I had I'd be pissed, because MLB.TV sent out a renewal email a few days ago and had I spent $130 on MLB.TV and saw that I'd be livid.
  13. I remember so many people were butthurt about him being included too.
  14. If he would want to stay here I don't see a problem with seeing what terms he's thinking. As said before he has had elbow issues and was punted out of Houston so he might be more willing to sign than we think. Adding an extra year or two to his contract probably wouldn't be a bad thing.
  15. Do you guys think we do a time share in center with RG, Alford, and Fisher this year? With the extra roster spot I could see the front office willing to commit to Alford to see if he'll fit into the future.
  16. We've had a pretty decent track record of taking corner infielders and helping them put it all together so I'm optimistic about this signing.
  17. He's going home and counting all the loonies he made lawyering this past year because that's Heaven.
  18. I mean weren't the Jays one of the first organizations to have a firm hold in the DR and we've been fairly active down there for close to 40 years?
  19. I don't think we necessarily need to get extra value out of a contract for it to be a win. I'd rather sign someone like Wheeler than acquiring someone similar via trade where we have to trade prospect capital.
  20. He's dead, unfortunately
  21. MVP Baseball (the one with Manny on it) was probably the greatest baseball video game made up to that point, and they chose The Show instead. I own several different versions of The Show, and do like it, but had they went with EA Sports I think it would have benefited them. (Sidenote: I actually really enjoyed playing High Heat Baseball as a straight up sim as it was the first baseball game that had an entire minor league system.)
  22. Looking back on that trade we made out like bandits. The only real prospect we gave up was Boyd, whom if I remember correctly, was the "worst" player we gave up as many thought he was an AAAA pitcher.
  23. I'd be interested in giving Adam Warren a look. Last year looks like a blip.
  24. I'd be completely fine with him if we aren't going all in on elite arms. If he bounces back he could get us something at the trading deadline, and I doubt he'll cost an arm and a leg.
  25. Oooooh no it was more of what towns they want to drop. I imagine most of the A level and rookie level leagues have similar stadiums and can be kinda interchangable. I think it's more about what cities would be on the chopping block due to stadium quality and attendance issues.
