  1. I'm not so concerned about hitting, we're #1/#2 lineup in the league. Vlad's been a bit unlucky, his xBA is .320 which is incredible. But yea, I do think a higher launch angle would help him. He's one of the rare hitters with the EV to make it work. Not something you can change mid season though. I'm always more concerned with the pitching. The team numbers are pretty mediocre on the year at #22 overall. That said, Gausman, Bieber and Vesavage at their best can be just as terrifying as anyone in the league. Bassitt and the top of our bullen are reliable but not elite. The offense will have to get back on track and carry us, we aren't a pitching team
  2. Mariners up 3-0 on Houston, they've been super hot lately
  3. Same deal with Hoffman. I don't think either should make the post season roster. We need to take the best into the post season. I'm worried we may not Again its gotta be Gausman, Bieber, Yesavage, Bassitt
  4. Kinda crazy how much more accurate umps have gotten Pawol 92.42% and that's only good enough for 2nd worst of all umps (very small sample size) In 2019, that % would be middle of the pack In 2015, that % would be 2nd best Does make me wonder how accurate the camera tracking was back then. Then again we've seen huge improvements in some other sports. Modern NFL kickers come to mind
  5. 2/4 away in Tampa isn't the worst thing Yankees heavily favored tonight though with Fried on the mound
  6. Tampa actually has really good pitching though
  7. Tampa isn't a bad team. Pythag W/L just 3 wins less than us
  8. Crazy Pepiot already knocked out of the game
  9. Robbed of an immaculate inning. It'd be so much hype if the ump didn't make a major error
  10. Really depends how injured IMO. It feels like Bo is going to have to DH out of necessity
  11. Yea we get 9 bullpen for postseason roster? That's quite a few slots... it's not like the back end of our bullpen is that amazing. Little, Fisher, Nance, Varland are locks IMO. After them, I'd take Lauer, Scherzer, Berrios over the rest of our relief corps. Last two slots I'd say Dominguez and Y-Rod. I hope we can get in the mindset of just taking the best, not the most likeable or veteran
  12. Bassitt has been too good to leave off. He's been their second best starter by the stats. Very underrated IMO I think I'd go Gausman, Bieber, Yesavage, Bassitt if the postseason started today
  13. Oh right it's the Yankees AAA stadium, forgot
  14. Lol the Trop is our Bermuda Triangle
  15. Hoffman IMO Hoffman should be dropped for the playoffs. He's now at -0.3 WAR on the season. And he's been worse than this in the second half
  16. All that said it'd probably be better for Hoffman mentally to be low-medium leverage at this point. His WAR is sub 0 :(
  17. The thing is even if they put Hoffman in 7th or 8th inning they lose. It's a home run given up in another inning. Shuffling reliever order doesn't help all that much when they all get equal use
  18. Sort of what he's been all his career. Elite when HRs are low and garbage when giving up a lot like this year
  19. If you invert that over a season, the average player batting off Hoffman would be on pace for 50 HR
  20. You'd think analytics would be able to tell them that
  21. It's interesting that so many pitchers with bad Stuff+ have good Location+
  22. I would have kept Nance in and not just saying this out of hindsight. They need to stop with so many mid-inning switches. it's overuse. That said the talent isn't there, you can shuffle bullpen order but it has way less impact than people think. Much like batting order.
  23. Yea I think they've also been doing way too many short bullpen outings. It's like no one can face more than 3 batters. The thing is just to get a guy up they pitch a lot of warmup/practice pitches. That's all usage whether they actually come out to pitch or not. I do wonder if the trend will go back to using relievers for 2 IP more, because this has been a disaster
