    Yeah he tries to drum up interest in non-stories and pass it off as news. He's one of the worst.

    I'd probably take Loup but we are already paying Morales anyway. Might as well keep him and build a little depth (if you want to call it that) by putting Loup in AAA.

    I'd pass. He looks cooked and even if he's not his projections aren't great moving forward anyway. Not sure if he'd bring excitement or be a distraction to the team either and if it would even matter so I won't bother factoring that in.

    This team is playing really well. 3-2 road trip with two one-run losses. 9 game homestand coming up. 1 Game out of first. I'll be interested to see what they do at the deadline. I hope they add some pieces.

    Drop it with Puig! No one is trading 2 extra years of Puig at 7M each for Bautista. Especially when he's coming off an injury.

    I've probably seen enough to say that he could be a defensive replacement for Saunders or Bautista if needed.

    Gotcha. I just think despite all that having Puig for 2017 and 2018 for a total of 14 million make him more valuable than Bautista for half a year. Especially with no DH in the NL and Bautista coming off his injury.

    Why would the Dodgers do it? Puig is cheap and under control through 2018.

    Well, Gibby certainly got creative in finding a way to stack the lineup with righties. Let's hope Barney is a natural out there in the OF. He's never played a game there, not even in the minors.

    Not when we traded for him nor was he that bad for us after we acquired him.

    I read them and don't care. He probably had one too many rums is all.

    Yeah I mean it's possible although a team may just not even want Cola or Goins unless they value them as org depth. But last year we traded 3 bums in A-ball for Mark Lowe. We also got Grilli for nothing this year.

    Yeah that 4 million was well spent but I was just trying to identify what 4 mill gets you. And last year it got you a 33 year old Steve Pearce coming of a wOBA of .308.

    It was tongue-in-cheek and the fact that you didn't pick up on that and instead wrote two paragraphs of analysis is evidence that BTS' half-joking claim may in fact be accurate. Also, what mod deleted my comment telling that dad to toughen up? lol

    4 mil a year for Smoak is not that bad, I agree with you. Steve Pearce came off a terrible year last year, truly just an atrocious year, and he got 4 million. LoMo had a bad year as well. He got 4 million. I imagine Smoak would have got at least 4 million. After Napoli and Moss he's probably the third best 1B on the market next season. Smoak just needs a platoon partner. I think the aformentioned Pearce would be a good fit. I get the concerns about even rostering Smoak and committing 2 years two him like that. But the team has a ton of FAs next year and we won't be able to perfectly fill all the holes that they leave. Patching up one of those holes now makes sense.

    Well Burns will get the boot. Then it will be between Goins and Cola for that final bench spot IMO.

    Oh I agree with you. He's fine as organizational depth. I just have a feeling that he'll be up. Hell, he might even be an ok platoon partner with Smoak I guess. I just really hope we pick up someone better at the deadline.
