LA. It was actually August 27th. They won 3-2 against the Cubs. Urias pitched - I wasn't aware that he had a Fernandomania-like following until I was at that game.

It's quite possible that the Rangers, Red Sox, Orioles and Yanks all make the post season. Gotta cheer for the Indians in that scenario.

I hate bunting. I really do. I wouldn't have done it there either. But of all the things Gibby does I think that bunt is probably toward the bottom. I'd like to hear his rational. He doesn't bunt often so he probably knows it's bad he just knows that the offense is struggling a little bit and he wanted to try and get that run. If he knows bunting is bad but does it once in a great while because he's playing his hunch it's not the worst thing a manager can do imo. Joe Maddon even bunts sometimes.

Guys, no need for the DL this time of the year. We have 40 man rosters.

Teams don't even really use the DL this time of the year. And if he did miss 15 days backdated he'd be back for the last week of the season. Idk, this doesn't sound great but to say he's missing the rest of the year seems like overkill to me.

It's just as likely that he's busy getting treatment and that he doesn't really feel like talking to the media. To proclaim that he's out for the year is jumping the gun.

Why do you think he's out for the year? Doesn't the evidence point toward it being more day-to-day?

The Orioles refuse to die. And yes the Yanks and Tigers are right there. The Tigers actually have a pretty easy schedule from here on out. Missing the WC is very possible.

He's not a good manager but he's not really the reason we lost today. Stroman hanging an 0-2 curve is part of it. So is our offense being so inept against another mediocre pitcher. Gibbons made some dumb moves, some of them worked out though - starting Zeke actually worked out for the most part. Could Gibbons be the difference between missing the playoffs or not? Who knows. I'm on board with bringing in a new manager next year though. Not sure who exactly but Bud Black wouldn't be bad.
