    Agreed. Also I saw someone mention Goins as the 5th guy. IMO it cannot be Goins. Barney can be the backup IF just fine. Goins can come up if there is an injury. Pompey brings more to the table off the bench.

    The minor league season ends really soon right? That's why all these guys will get called up, even if they don't play much.

    No I don't think so. Lineup- 9 Rotation- 4 Total=13 That leaves 12 players. So you can go with 8 bullpen/4 bench or 7 bullpen/5 bench. I'd much prefer the 7/5 option.

    It seems like he loves throwing his new relievers in to high leverage roles.

    This partially proves how bad Gibby's lineup is tonight and it partially proves how stacked this team is now that everyone is healthy.

    Not necessarily the way I would order them but if I were Wade Miley I'd be s***ing my pants at seeing those 9 right handers on the lineup card tonight.

    Well we've scored the 5th most runs of anyone in baseball, one of the teams ahead of us is the Rockies too. We are second in the AL behind the Red Sox. The offense isn't as good as last year but it's still been pretty darn good.

    Yeah he was a 3.9 xFIP starter but I'm not sure he can do that anymore. He's had trouble as a reliever, it's no guarantee that as a starter he could get a 3.90 xFIP.

    I'm a little bit nervous for this O's series with it being on the road but holy s*** do we have the advantage with the pitching matchups: Estrada vs. Miley Happ vs. Ubaldo Sanchez vs. Gallardo I like our chances to take 2 of 3.

    I thought about stacking Sanchez and Dickey starts as well. 3 innings of Sanchez, let Dickey go as long as he can, then go to the pen if needed. Or would the Dickey effect call for Dickey to go first and then Sanchez? Either way it could be an effective tandem start.

    I don't know about that. Chavez hasn't even been good as a reliever. There's no guarantee that he could be a starter and make it through 5+ innings with any kind of consistency.

    Is there any point in keeping Dickey as a long man for the playoff roster? There was that game last year where Pennington threw. But did it really matter? I don't trust him in any other bullpen role really so I think he'll be off the roster.

    Good point but I'm not even sure putting out iron men like that is a good idea. Teams are becoming more careful in managing their player's health, as they should.

    This isn't football or hockey. Hitting a 95 mph fastball is a pretty precise equation. Even a slight injury can make it next to impossible.
