  1. Jones' hit before Trumbo's was on a good pitch as well. Jones basically threw his bat at that one.
  2. I read on twitter that Biagini is warming in case he needs to come in mid-inning. Liriano would come in at the beginning of an inning. Not sure if that's just spitballing or what.
  3. Need runs here. Donaldson-EE-Bautista getting their second perhaps final look at Tillman.
  4. It was kind of like a fielding slump is all imo. Or a 3 week case of the yips. He's usually very good I agree.
  5. Well the gut says go Liriano (his case is built upon mostly hot hand theory and non-regressed splits) and the analytics say go with Stroman so he came to the same conclusion but for a different reason in my opinion.
  6. I think Bautista is a better defender than Saunders. Saunders is just brutal. So is Bautista but he has made some alright plays lately, particularly while running back toward the wall. Late in the game it could present a problem with substituting Bautista out like everyone said but I think the small upgrade at defense is worth it.
  7. You have no idea if that's true or not. The analytics department could have suggested Stroman.
  8. Not sure if anyone has posted the lineup yet but there it is. No surprised other than Bautista playing the field and Saunders DHing which I mentioned as preferring yesterday.
  9. It appears that it was a collaborative franchise decision. FO and the analytics department were also involved.
  10. Vegas has us a pretty steady favorite. If they all truly believe that with such consensus they should be betting the hell out of the game.
  11. Aren't they just showing alternate angles or whatever? I'm pretty sure you'll get whatever they are offering, even if you live in Canada. They call it a companion product. It's not the full video broadcast feed. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp?product=PostseasonTV If you have trouble with it you can always find a stream of the game here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mlbstreams
  12. It's fine if the game isn't close but when it starts up in the 7th or 8th inning of a close game it's incredibly annoying.
  13. Oh I know that's why Shatkins needs to read Gibby the riot act to make sure he takes Stroman out after twice through the lineup. If Gibby does his standard "let him pitch util he fails" ******** it will be a very unwise decision on both his part and the FO for not making it more clear.
  14. Here is Zwelling's predictions for tomorrow. They usually put Zeke in LF and Saunders in RF don't they? I almost wish they'd just DH Saunders and put Bautista in the field. I have nothing to base that off of other than the eye test but it just seems like Bautista is better out there. He's made some decent plays running backwards and Saunders just sucks. I guess late in games though when they do a defensive substitution they don't really mind if they lose Saunders as much as losing Bautista.
  15. The key will be for the offense to tag Tillman for some runs early. He might only go 3 or 4 innings.
  16. Well let's look at Stroman's starts. Apr 19: Held them to one run through 6 innings. Gave up two runs in the 7th and was pulled. June 9: Gave up 3 runs in the first 5 innings. Allowed to pitch the 6th and gave up another run. June 19: Just flat out got his tits lit. June 9th and this game cap a 10 day stretch where he was at his worst all season. Sept 29: Threw 6 innings of two run ball. Gibby leaves him to pitch the 7th and he gives up a run. Gibby inexplicably leaves him in again for the 8th and he gave up a double and a single before finally being pulled. If Gibby would just pull him after seeing the lineup two times he would have done much, much better against the O's. I presume that's the plan for tomorrow and then go to Liriano. If it's not I'll be rioting right there with you.
  17. But they hit Liriano even harder career wise. I don't even like those numbers as it's 25 or so AB's instead of 10 but if you're going to use matchups like that might as well use the greater number. And why are you so pissed about this? lol I'm not even saying that I'm absolutely right I just think Stroman is the better pick. Those that think Liriano is the better pick have an argument as well, more of a "hot hand" theory, but for either side to definitively say the other is wrong discounts how tough of a decision this really is.
  18. Does he even do play by play for NBA? I thought he just hosted Inside the NBA.
  19. Is this crew any good? I haven't really heard any of them do a live game.
  20. I think fangraphs ran a pretty good article on this some few years back and the regression for left handed batter splits was about 8.5% and for righties it's about 6%. They had some formula you could use and everything. EDIT: Here it is: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/estimating-hitter-platoon-skill/. Tom Tango wrote about it as well: http://www.insidethebook.com/ee/index.php/site/comments/fangraphs_now_has_some_splits_data/#comments.
  21. So now you are using 7 ABs from Kim to 15 for Jones to call for the firing of the Front Office if we lose?
  22. Because Schoop has 379 career AB's vs. lefties. That's not a lot of information. Machado has 669. That's not a ton of information either. Jones has more but there is still a lot of statistical noise within splits and if they remain unregressed they can be misleading.
