Yeah he was pathetic in AAA last year. I don't even think he's replacement level. -
Need to sign Bautista and trade for Puig or someone like him. If no trade then rolling Pompey out there in a platoon with Upton would be my second choice.

Yeah I think we'll bring in somebody. Ideally we bring in two more players but I'm not sure that we will.

I think they have learned their lesson. They have good OF defense now.

Yeah I can see what the Royals are doing. They basically turned two good players on the last year of their deals (Davis and Dyson) and turned them in to two average players with control (Soler and Karns). Not inspiring moves but it at least fills a couple of holes for the next few years.

There goes another corner OF option although 4 years of Karns seems like a pretty steep price for one year of Dyson, no?

A 3-WAR Outfielder is a 3-WAR Outfielder IMO, regardless of how much value comes from his bat versus defense. Would a good defensive player but a s***** hitter who projects for 3 WAR somehow fill our needs better? I don't think so. Frankly I think our run prevention is better than our offense right now anyway so if we want to break it down by fit an offensive player would probably be better.

Wow both Upton and Sparkman are much lower than I had them. I don't think this team has 12 better looking guys on it than those two.

I'd rather just sign Bautista and keep Stroman. Calhoun for Stroman is fair but it doesn't improve the team it's just spinning our tires.

Yeah I agree, the offseason hasn't been ideal at all and I've been saying that for a while. It's now January and Upton, Smoak, and Zeke are slated for major playing time. That's not good. This team was a clear WC contender heading in to the offseason but we've kind of whiffed so far this offseason so now I'm not sure. Like you said, things can not work out the way you hope as I agree with you on the whole Fowler/EE thing. Just unfortunate how that worked out. Cameron's take is that if we sign Bautista to a one year deal then the offseason won't be so bad. It wouldn't be horrible but my point was that's an awful lot riding on what remains the best FA left. Someone could decide that they aren't finding any trades and they make Bautista a competitive two year deal and we lose him.
